For a couple of years my husband has been taking both of my kids to the routine cleaning and check-ups to this office in Wheeling. Every time after our visits, Artesa Family Dental dentists would assure my husband that our kidsâ teeth were in great shape with no cavities.
About 2 months ago, my 6-year old child started complaining about a toothache. I thought that was a permanent tooth erupting and he was just teething. I gave him Tylenol and put some Orajel numbing pain reliever on his gums. A few weeks ago, I noticed a white round substance on his gum next to his top molar. I decided to take my son to the nearest dental office by my house for consultation. To my greatest surprise, I have learned that that white substance turned out to be an infection because the tooth next to it had a cavity. I asked the dentist at the clinic how much time it would have taken to develop that cavity. I told her that my son had a cleaning on September 10, 2019 which was less than 6 months ago and Artesa Family Dental dentists didnâÂÂt notice any signs of cavity back then. She said it would have taken much more time than 6 months; the cavity should have been there by then. She told me that my son needed to see a specialist â pediatric dentists. So, I scheduled an emergency appointment with pediatric dentists. The pediatric dentist examined my sonâÂÂs teeth and took x-ray pictures of his whole mouth. It turned out that my son, had 9 cavities! I was shocked. I couldnâÂÂt believe that for all those years we were taking my kids to that office for routine cleaning and exams such severe problems were not diagnosed. On the contrary, we were misinformed by their staff that my kidsâ teeth were perfect with no signs of cavities. It cost me almost $4,000 to get my sonâÂÂs teeth repaired. Add to that: pain, discomfort, missing days from school to see a dentist, missing work days for me!
I want to urge everyone not to go to that office and especially not to bring your kids there. They are unprofessional and incompetent. When I called their office, and told them about my experience, the office manager said: âÂÂWell, you should not have given all these candies to your children.â Can you imagine? I hear that kind of remark from a dentist office?
Please take me advice and donâÂÂt take your kids there, unless you want to pay thousands of dollars later to fix your kidâÂÂs dental problems this office is unable to diagnose and treat!
