The Nottoway Plantation, one of the largest antebellum plantation houses in the south, was designed in 1857 and completed in 1859. The plantation is composed of 64 rooms, seven staircases, and five galleries. It survived the War Between the States, and has only recently become a hotel facility. Its d cor features hand-carved marble mantles and intricate plaster friezework, brass and crystal chandeliers and mahogany stairways carpeted with velvet. The hotel offers one- and two-bedroom guest rooms with double and king-size beds, Jacuzzis, sleeper sofas, fireplaces, bath tubs, irons and ironing boards, safes, televisions and coffeemakers. It also offers bridal and master bedroom suites. Nottoway Plantation has a full-service dining facility that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, the hotel has space available for hosting weddings, receptions, special events and corporate functions. Nottoway Plantation is located in White Castle, La.
