Provided by YP.comThomas Kim told me to "go ahead and leave a negative review", so here it is. Here are a few of my refinancing experiences with Mr. Thomas Kim of Metrocity Lending.
-Right after we lock the loan Mr. Kim says that he suddenly realizes his commission is not included in the lender's loan and I will need to pay him $1700, this despite previous statements saying that the loan included the broker's compensation.
-I have a report from the lender showing that in the middle of the process Mr. Kim failed to submit any information to the lender for a whole month. Bear in mind I had a lock on my rate for 45 days. Mr. Kim laid the blame on the lender. The lender tells me personally that Mr. Kim had 10 loans with them all going over the lock period.
-Mr. Kim gets BLACKLISTED by the lender.
-Surprise! My loan needs a rate lock extension for another 10 days at a cost to me of an additional $1200. Mr. Kim offers no assistance with this fee despite the fact that it was caused by his failure to communicate with the lender. He says not to worry, that I'm saving money with my refi and I'll soon pay it off with the savings?!?
-We are getting close now to having to extend the load a second time at a cost of yet another $1000. I get an email from Mr. Kim at 3:30 on a Friday night telling me I will need to close that night. My lock expires on the next Monday. It's my son's birthday party and a house full of kids and we need to sit and sign papers for an hour and a half or I will have to pay $1000 to extend the lock again. I had not even seen the closing papers and am given no chance to review the costs except while signing.
-We sign and I have many questions about the fees since they differ from the Good Faith Estimate Mr. Kim provided. Mr. Kim stops taking my calls for 72 hours after I sign. I am very concerned that I have paid way too much for the loan and he doesn't want to talk.
-I ended up paying around $5000 in fees for this loan. $5000 is a lot in fees and MUCH more than I was told it would cost in the beginning.
I found Mr. Kim to be inept in getting this deal done. He will probably say "the market is crazy" or "the lender is a joke" or some such avoidance of his role in this fiasco. The bottom line is, I got my loan refinanced through Thomas Kim and he was awful and cost me a lot of money.
