Provided by YP.comThey out source their lab work to Minnesota! I strongly recommend taking any babies or young children to Dallas. While the RX strength was correct , the lenses I was told to get are not supposed to be used on a baby/toddler. My little one went almost a year in glasses that were little more then useless. To top that off she would repeatedly pop the lenses out of the frame and put them in her mouth! the staff at Clarke had no solution or better frames to offer. I found out latter these frames where meant to be melted to the lenses. The staff needs a lot of training and they need to stop cutting corners using a cheap lab 1000 miles away. Never again.
First of all, I’d like to apologize for any dissatisfaction you’re feeling about the service you received in our practice. Having to deal with the challenges of correcting the vision of a child, especially an infant, can be stressful for a parent. It is our ultimate goal to help you in that process. However, please allow me to address a couple points from your comment. “They out source their lab work to Minnesota! ...and they need to stop cutting corners using a cheap lab 1000 miles away.” The lab you’re referring to in Minnesota is used by thousands of optometrists and is one of the biggest labs in the country. When a practice uses an outside lab, it actually costs more. The cost cutting measure would be if the opticians didn’t send them to a lab but chose to generate the lens in-house. If you do make lenses at the practice versus sending them off, you are limited to the equipment your practice can purchase and maintain. When using a lab, you have the benefit of the latest technology in digital surfacing equipment and a team of people experienced in their field of generating a lens that will look great and provide the best optics possible. We have to pay charges for the materials, their labor, and shipping so it is much cheaper to not use an outside lab. “While the RX strength was correct , the lenses I was told to get are not supposed to be used on a baby/toddler.” The lenses we used for your child were polycarbonate lenses. Polycarbonate lenses are the lens material of choice for children because they are impact resistant, lightweight, and provide UV protection. “…she would repeatedly pop the lenses out of the frame and put them in her mouth! the staff at Clarke had no solution or better frames to offer. I found out latter these frames where meant to be melted to the lenses.” We actually contacted Miraflex, the frame manufacturer, to help trouble shoot when you were having that issue. There were no recommendations for melting the lenses into the frame. After seeing your comment, we contacted them again to see if they advise doing that and they said they have never suggested or heard of melting the lenses into the frame as a solution. It could, in fact, negate any warranty coverage, both on the frame and the lenses. For example, if the lenses got scratched and needed to be replaced by the scratch warranty, they would not be able to be removed from the frame and a new frame would have to be purchased. The resolution we were advised to try, and we did, was to have the lenses cut a little larger than the pattern of the opening so that they’d fit extra tight in the frame, therefore being harder to remove. We also shipped the frame to the lab in Minnesota you mentioned so that they could have the frame on hand to aid them in cutting the lenses to fit in as tightly as possible. The nature of the flexibility of the frame and its ability to stretch is why most people choose to purchase these frames for their young children. Unfortunately, these factors are also what made it easier for your child to pop the lenses out than it would be in a traditional frame. We have sold many Miraflex frames and this is the first instance of this happening. Nonetheless, we regret that you had these problems. We never want a patient to be left with an impression that we did not want to help them or that our staff didn’t care. While we cannot erase the frustrations you experienced, we hope that this information helps explain some things more in-depth. Thank you, Clarke EyeCare Center

Provided by YPmobileThe office is really modern and nice looking. The staff is a bunch of inexperienced highschool girls in black scrubs. I was misquoted a contact exam fee over the phone, and it ended up being double what I was quoted. I was there for over and hour. They make you wait 2 week you get your script, and you have to come back for a 2nd visit. The optometrist was great and professional. I actually heard the unprofessional staff members talking about me in the hallway, while I waited for my exam. I would have walked out if my insurance would have covered a visit somewhere else. Will not be returning. Very uncomfortable experience.

Provided by YP.comYeah this place is fancy and the people look nice. But the glasses selection is terrible, expecially for a child. The doctor we saw does not know what she is doing. Maybe she was having an off day, but saying that my child needed Vision Therapy, when that was not near the case. Their Vision Therapy does not accept insurance-that is what made me rethink and get a second opinoin. Glad I did, the glasses they made were WAY TOO strong, and vision therapy was not neccassary. Thank You Brookstone Eye Center for saving me $2500.
