M Blake Cooper of Cooper Law with Shannon Cooper was appointed to represent me in a simple city case. He promised to perform certain discovery and discussions with prosecution but never did. He did not communicate with me other than one time. I initiated an eamil chain with him to document the lack of communication and request his refusal to proceed with defense and discovery which we had perviously talked about - I was polite and professional. He responded that I should set a time to talk with him again. I want it in writing but I responded it would be ok to meet up. The very next day I get a notice to withdraw in my mail box - he spent ZERO time to dump me after he realized he probably passed the deadlines for discovery and now has screwed me out of a simple defense. Of course the BAR complaints in KS go to other attorneys and I am not likely to prevail with a complaint there so I will just share my experiences here and on every professional review site I can. They are irresponsible, lack basic communication skills. He outright lied to me about law which I took classes on too in college. When I confronted him with this he backed down and then twisted what he meant to say was.... He just wants the easy simple paper processing cases with no real litigation or otherwise. He is a paid city public defense contractor so clearly he is the lowest bidder or buddies with the city judge and staff or something. I will be digging into the city contract and which city council or staff signed off on it - but needless to say - I do not recommend M Blake Cooper or Cooper Law in Andover, KS. If you are given this firm for representation - RUN. Go back to the judge and ask for literally ANYONE other than M. Blake Cooper as a defense counsel. He should stick to family and divorce and traffic cases - where things are very structured and there is really not much lawyering to do other than to file papers and follow procedure in a timely manner.
