The Children s Institute, located in Pittsburgh, is a health care provider, school and a social service agency. It offers speech, language, physical and occupational therapies to children challenged by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anoxia, arterial venous malformation, arthritis, behavioral disorders, brain injury, burns, cancer and cerebral palsy. The organization also provides services to children suffering from cerebral vascular accident, chronic pain, congenital anomalies, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, neurological and neuromuscular disorders, orthopedic injuries and spinal cord injuries. The Children s Institute manages a more than 20-bed inpatient pediatric unit and an over 15-bed inpatient unit for children suffering from Prader-Willi Syndrome and behavioral disorders programs. Its outpatient programs and the day school, which serves more than 220 children with neurological impairment and cerebral palsy, are also housed in its main facility. It also offers Project Star, a permanency-planning agency for children with special needs and is located in its branch office in Wilkinsburg, Pa.
