A former resident of Williamsburg and a frequent visitor, I count Sal's as a must-visit restaurant up there with making sure I get a Cheese Shop sandwich. Their pastas are terrific. The pizza is excellent. My favorite is the chicken picatta or marsala. Very family friendly, casual atmosphere - highly recommend.

I've seen a couple of negative reviews here and believe they must be confusing which restaurant they went to with Sal's. Sal's by Victor located behind Books-A-Million on Richmond Road is quite simply the best Italian restaurant in Hampton Roads. I had not tried it until I began to work at a nearby shop, but this place is both affordable and delicious. For example, for only $5.99 you can have a good sized bowl of homemade soup - flavors change daily - and a "half" sandwich which is at least 8 inches long. They pile on the meat and toppings - the cheesesteak often has to be eaten with a fork! During lunch they keep things casual and inexpensive; at night, they offer more expensive fair with cloth napkins, but also keep the sandwich/soup/salad specials. They offer sub sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and seafood. There are beautiful Italian landscapes on the wall and comfortable seating for all - including my father-in-law who uses a wheelchair. Sal's has won Williamsburg's Best Restaurant every year since 1999! If you're hungry in Williamsburg and especially if you live on a budget, eat at Sal's!

The vegetarian pizza and Greek salad were okay, just okay, the price was outragous!
