We chose Weddings Tents and Events as the rental company for our wedding (which we were very pleased with), but ended up with a contract with Avalon half-way through our planning process because of the change in ownership. Avalon has one star only because we did end up with rental equipment and a tent on-site for our wedding day. We were extremely disappointed in the transition process with Avalon and were very unimpressed with their customer service. It was very difficult to receive prompt and clear answers to standard questions regarding types of rental equipment needed for our event. Once we finally had our contract outlined, it was nearly impossible to get Avalon to advise us of a delivery date and time. It took several days of leaving messages with no return phone calls in the days before our wedding to find out if and when we could expect them. When we were given a time, they were not reachable by phone and did not show up until hours later without any explanation or apology. When they finally did show up to our venue, they set up the dance floor and lighting differently than discussed. We had given them a layout and photographs far ahead of time to communicate our vision for set-up (which we paid more for since it was not standard), but we came to our venue the next day (rehearsal dinner) only to find that none of it had been correctly executed. When we called to ask them to come back and finish setting up the way we had all discussed together, the owner spoke rudely to us and stated that he had no recollection of the discussion (which was ridiculous since we had several email correspondences) and was not sure if he could send a crew to finish set-up. In turn, we could not set-up the inside of the tent ahead of time and ended up setting up all day the day of the wedding instead of relaxing and getting ready with family and friends. Our wedding was at 4:00 the next day (we told them 2:00 to make sure we allowed extra time since we knew they were not reliable) and they did not send a crew to the venue until exactly 2:00pm. Had we not anticipated their tardiness, they would have been attempting to fix the lighting during our marriage ceremony. It would be one thing if all this had happened and the owners expressed some sense of responsibility and apologized, but they maintained a constant attitude of defensiveness throughout the transaction. We found this company extremely overpriced for the quality of service we were given and would not recommend them to anyone who is looking for respectful professionals with time management skills. The stress they contributed to our event was not worth their service.
