Angela Tate PT, PhD, Cert MDT received her BS from Thomas Jefferson University (summa cum laude) and her MS and PhD from Temple University. She is an orthopedic physical therapy professor at Arcadia University and is actively involved in research in shoulder impingement syndrome, shoulder pain in swimmers, and Achilles (ankle) tendinopathy. Angela has over 20 years clinical experience and operates at Willow Grove Physical Therapy as a clinical director since 2011.
Her specialties are treatment of shoulder, knee and spine disorders and post surgical care. Angela is McKenzie certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy for spine and extremity orthopedic disorders. She is the lead author and Recipient of the Excellence in Clinical Inquiry Award for 2010 best clinical publication in the Journal of Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy on Shoulder Impingement Syndrome. She has several other medical journal publications on assessment of shoulder dysfunction and has 2 additional research articles that are pending publication titled Risk Factors Associated with Shoulder Pain and Disability Across the Lifespan of Competitive Swimmers and Effects of Bone-Conducted Music on Swimming Performance and Enjoyment. Dr. Tate also serves on the research committee of the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association.
Remarkably, she travels to Jamaica each summer to do volunteer physical therapy work in underprivileged areas. She is married with 2 daughters and one dog and enjoys cooking, swimming, biking, running and competing in triathlons
