The Upper Moreland Township Police Department protects, preserves and safeguards the constitutional and civil rights of citizens through law enforcement. It maintains a communication center that responds to more than 14,000 service calls annually. The Upper Moreland Township Police Department operates a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, which specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations. The department also maintains an honor guard that marches in parades, conducts funerals for officers and their family members, and attends wakes and funerals for area officers killed in the line of duty. The Upper Moreland Township Police Department employs a staff of more than 40 full-time sworn officers, civilians and community volunteers.
