My Mother passed away in May of 2014. I am not sure how Atlantic Cremation came into the picture but they ended up taking possession of my Mother's body. I went into their office to take care of paperwork and fees and such and left happy. Was told it would take approximately a week for the arrangements to be completed. 1 1/2 weeks later I received a call saying there was a paperwork problem and nothing had yet been done. Talk of additional time and money needed. This was two days before we were going to do our own personal scattering of the ashes. 18 days later I had to arrange for another crematorium to pick up my Mother's body and perform the cremation. They had it completed within days with no additional paperwork needed so I still don't know what the problem was. On top of all of that, Atlantic Cremation has not returned the over $1200 they charged me. Their ad says $995 for a simple cremation. Apparently they add money for the stress and aggravation that they cause your family. The NC Funeral Board Services is now investigating.
