I signed up for the 200 Hour Teacher Training Program with Longwave Yoga in 2022. It's a 6 month program that cost $3,000. Training was scheduled for April - Sept. In June, unfortunately I had to stop going to the classes because my mom was really sick and I became her primary caretaker. I talked with the owner (Amanda) about my options. If possible I wanted to continue to do the work from home and still stay on track to graduate in Sept. Amanda told me there were a required amount of in-person contact hours which she knew were hard for me at that time but I would need to graduate and I could schedule private lessons with the lead trainers at a later date. So for the next five months I worked alone at my house and never heard from anyone at the studio other than the confirmation emails that they'd received my monthly payments. Then when I emailed the lead trainers to schedule the private lessons, Amanda said it would cost me $100 per hour for 158 contact hours, totaling $15,800. I explained that I should not have to pay more money because when Amanda and I had talked about the in-person contact hours previously she never said it would cost me more money. When I first found out about my mom’s diagnosis it was June, and at that time I had only paid $1,500 into the program. I could have stopped paying right then but after talking with Amanda, I continued to make payments of $500 every month trusting her word that I could finish the program at a later date. Amanda completely mislead me. She told me I could schedule private lessons not once mentioning that it would cost me more money. Sadly after doing all the work at home, and paying $3,000, I still don’t have my 200 Hour Yoga Certificate.
