The Wilmington Police Department is a law enforcement agency that employs more than 250 sworn officers. The department provides crime prevention and law and traffic enforcement services. It operates administration and patrol and support operations divisions. Its patrol services division features crime prevention, K-9 and traffic units. The Wilmington Police Department conducts investigations, gathers evidence, and interviews suspects, victims and witnesses. The department responds to emergency and nonemergency calls for service. It intervenes in cases of theft, robbery, homicide, sexual assault, serious crime, domestic violence and narcotics trafficking.
