Farming comes first. Since planting the first vine in l996, winemaker Mike Hallock has farmed sustainably: no herbicides or pesticides. Cover crop conversion to the Willamette Valley’s native grasses enhances the vineyard’s soil biodiversity. Carabella is a member of the Deep Roots Coalition; the well-drained volcanic soils have allowed 100% dry farming of the entire 59 planted acres. Mike Hallock has made pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot gris exclusively from Carabella fruit since the first harvest in 1998. Appointment onlyFarming comes first.
