After months of renovations at 32-38 Waterfield Road, the Black Horse Tavern is proud to open the doors on August 9th. Featuring a blend of casual tavern food, drink and specialty dishes, the Black Horse Tavern is pleased to be the first of its kind in downtown Winchester. The tavern was always a dream for life-long Winchester resident James Covino. With the August 9th opening, his dream is finally a reality. Coupled with his wife Kim's passion for great cuisine and cooking, the two set out on a year- long adventure to open downtown -Winchester's first pub-style eatery. They purchased the 32-38 Waterfield Road building and began renovations to satisfy Winchester's need for a restaurant that offers high quality and affordable cuisine. The Covinos' vision is to have the tavern rooted deeply in the Winchester community just like its namesake, the original Black Horse Tavern built in 1724. Historically located on the corner of Black Horse Terrace and Main Street, the tavern was demolished in 1892. It was an important meeting spot for soldiers during the Revolution as well as a place for townspeople to gather. The new Black Horse Tavern pays homage to the original with a comfortable, welcoming decor and a fantastic menu. Consisting of traditional tavern food and specialty dishes, the Black Horse Tavern is a great place to enjoy a sports game at the bar, a special dinner out, or an easy and fun family dining experience. After months of renovations at 32-38 Waterfield Road, the Black Horse Tavern is proud to open the doors on August 9th.
