Provided by YP.comI think this YMCA should stay open until 8:30 every day of the week. Closing at 5:30 during the weekend is odd. We love all the activities available for kids. They offer a ton of classes included with the membership. The spin class is awesome!

Provided by YP.comI had to make another account just to tell you how bad this place is here is the rest. Another situation my second oldest daughters friend’s church was having an activity at the YMCA and I’d said that I would help out after talking to someone who worked there everything was set he was suppose to be there to give us the equipment this was about a week before their healthy kids day and the activities we were going to do was to teach kids about being healthy we bought snacks and everything we even got a pediatrician to come out we even gave the YMCA flyers two weeks ahead of time to hand out but to our surprise the flyers were never put up or handed out and when we got their the guy we had talked to on the phone wasn’t even there he didn’t even come or tell anyone about it therefore when we got there no one knew what we were talking about that’s when we had to call him but no answer we had a few kids there that were disappointed because they could not do their activities because we did not have the equipment the leas one my oldest daughter (who is 15) took the teen fitness class that used to cost $20 (now it’s $40) to me it should have been free it’s a one day class where the participants go they walked and went around the room and were they were taught how to use the equipment which I wasn’t too happy about because when it said class I thought it was a week or two maybe even twice a week but what really got me mad was the that the directions for how to use the equipment were on the equipment well at the end of the class they handed her paper no joke paper that I could have printed out at home and a bunch of printed paper that included information that you can get out of a magazine but mostly information that she already knew but that’s not where the story stops when she turned 15 she start going to the gym a lot with some friends one day she forgot her teen fitness card (or paper) and went to the front desk and told them she was 15 years old and had already taken the teen fitness class and the lady behind the counter told her as long as she was 15 and we had family membership she was fine the very next day she went back without it and someone walked up to her and told her she had to bring the card that’s when she went up to the gym front desk and ask a guy if it was ok he said yes the next time she took her card but was not wearing it (it was in her pocket)she was stopped and asked her age when she said she was 15 the lady told her she had to have her card so she pulled it out that’s when she told her about the two times she was told she could take it she told her that whoever told her that was wrong when she came back home I called the Y and the person I talked to said it was fine. But if it were not for the Gainesville and river walk YMCA I would never trust YMCA’s again to my shock not only in the river walk and the Gainesville YMCA’s cheaper than this one it also has the Christian environment, better staff and facility if there was one thing I can say about the Winder YMCA is know what you’re standing for and to update your staff.

Provided by YP.comI would not tell anyone to go here, And I'm not saying all the employees are horrible because there are some you are the best you can get and then there are the ones you ask yourself why do they work here ? First off they are remodeling the building but my main concern is will this be the safe , Christian environment that they claim to be in other words why look pretty on the outside when your inside is nasty so let me just get to the point they need to make over their staff I have so many memories that I don’t want anyone else to ever experience with their child or anyone else they’re not professional and from what I’ve seen not all of them a christen values one summer day I took my children to go swimming on our way out I stopped to look into getting in a cardio class while there was one going on I decided to look through the door window to see what was going on when I heard a song that had been all over the news “I Kissed a Girl” I rushed my children out of there a fast as possible and as we were on our way home I couldn’t help but wonder “If they wont to instill christen values the people who not only work there put also the people who pay for what they say (“A christen environment”) why in the world would they play the most sick song for kids to listen to and learn” it didn’t make much sense in other words I didn’t take the class the other thing a while before this “christen environment cardio class” I was at the pool with my children and we were having a ok time ( not better then the time we had at a YMCA in Gainesville which by the way have a great indoor pool, great staff, and men what they say also very professional) the life guards were wonderful ( from what they told me they go to Apalachee) were very nice and sweet at the other end of the pool were some teen agers minding their own business when they yelled out to the life guard to tell a younger child to leave them alone one of the life guards told them that they could not make him but it looked like he couldn’t swim (he was holding on to the sides of the pool the whole time and when he let go he was struggling to stay afloat) so one of the life guards asked him nicely to come to the shallow end he told her to shut her mouth and not to tell him what to do (that’s when I thought they knew each other or at least were related) she told him not to talk to her like that as it went on some more he had said some things that I wouldn’t wants my youngest children to hear (that’s when I told them it was time to go I guess the environment was too “Christian” for us )they’d then asked him where his mother was “she’s in side duh he said rudely” they then asked him if she was working out he said yes they told him that if he sat out for five minutes that they would not tell his mother (that was the most christen thing I’d seen the whole time I was there)he refused over and over again that’s when they asked him again “where’s your mother” (what he said gave me the shock of my life) “she’s in a cardio class” that’s when the life guard asked “She works here ? “ duh he said one of the life guards then went inside to get his mother when his mother came out I thought for sure she was going to make him apologize to my shock she only make excuses for him saying he had ADHD I know more than a handful of children with ADHD they still get grounded for their actions that way they know right from wrong and I know the symptoms (which he showed not one sign of and I’m not saying that he didn’t have ADHA I’m saying that he knew what he was doing and that was just being rude)he did apologize well kind of not something you would take likely as we were leaving I thought to myself if an employee can respect their coworker enough to make their child really apologize (for being rude no matter what he had if he’s able to be rude he is able to apologize) then how are they to respect me ?
