We work by hand, combining the latest technology with elements of traditional joinery in an effort to create heirloom-quality pieces that are reasonably affordable. In a world that's been overtaken by mass-produced products that lack in quality and skilled craftsmanship, we strive to produce furniture that stands out among the masses of snap-together pieces. Building fine heirloom furniture that will last for generations is a time-consuming process that cannot be rushed by taking shortcuts. All of our furniture is enhanced by unbroken lines of solid wood construction with a minimum of laminated or glued-together parts.

While traveling through Vermont a few years ago I came upon the Vermont Furniture Design factory. I contacted the owner and decided to order eighteen pieces. As I live in Wisconsin, it was a risk for me to place this amount of trust and money in one company from so far away. The results far exceeded my expectations.

The furniture is beautiful and well crafted. All of the designs and attention to detail demonstrated artisans who take pride in their work. Additionally, the service was exceptional. The delivery company damaged one dresser. Vermont Furniture Design was honest, helpful and showed integrity in replacing the piece and working to make me happy.

It was a very pleasing process from beginning to end and I would highly recommend the company.

Good for furniture, bad for employment

The furniture produced is great...which is hard to believe. The owner loves his "second's store" and is clueless to the garbage that goes on in the work area. One supervisor doesn't care about anything work related, which is why his office is on the opposite side of the building as the area he's suppose to be supervising. The other supervisor just wants to keep the owner happy to ensure his own job security...which means if the owner likes you(i.e. you're a brown-noser) you have no worries. (One guy is on the clock for 40 hours a week, but only works 10 to 15; and another spends most of the work day building stuff for his own small business.) But if you're despised by someone the owner likes, or the owner himself, you're SCREWED. There are loads of OSHA violations throughout the plant and identifying them gets you on the owner's crap-list...especially when you get fed up with informing superiors and contact OSHA directly. How and why the good employees put up with this is beyond my understanding.
