Provided by YP.comI love taking my dogs to Groomingdale's. Alex always does a great job with them, great service and my dogs love to go there!!!! I even adopted a dog from Alex, she rescued her and couldn't find a home for her. So my husband and I decided to take her home with us. Alex is wonderful with animals, and always does a wonderful job!!! You can tell she has a great passion for them and her job.

Provided by YP.comAs a person who has rescued numerous dogs over the years and been a member of the board directors of an organization dedicated to the welfare of animals, the most critical factor in a groomer is their compassion and love for the animals. I have brought my dogs to Groomingdales since Alex bought the business. She is the only groomer who has been able to cut my rescue Pomeranian's hair in a perfect teddy bear cut. But, more importantly, is the love she shows our other rescue who typically trembles around other people because of his history of abuse. However, when he enters Groomingdales, he goes straight to the owners and he knows he is going to get lots of love and attention. Thank you for taking the time to make our dogs look beautiful and for giving them a safe and loving environment while you do it!

Provided by YP.comThe worst experience EVER. I made an appointment for 12:30pm to take my dog in for her nails clipped and a bath. I was told it would be about 2 hours. 4 hours later after I had already been by to pick her up, I finally demanded they have my dog ready as I was coming to pick her up. The owner was so totally rude to me on the phone and said it was "first come. first served". I asked then what is the point in making an appointment to which she responded that my dog was badly behaved and would not be allowed back. My dog is a puppy and that is their business dealing with dogs of ALL kinds. I have NEVER been spoken to so rudely and this was totally unprofessional. My dog looked terrifed also when I picked her up and peed all across the floor on the way out. GOOD DOG. BAD BUSINESS!!!
I do not know who HADA is who responded to my review as I know the owner's are MIchael and Alex. It was MICHAEL who advised me it would be 2 hours when I phoned for the appointment. NO I still do not understand why you even take appointments if it is first come, first served then why even make an appointment? STUPID BUSINESS PRACTICE FOR SURE. My dog was terrified and shaking in the cage they had her in and was thrilled to see me finally. Also, no mention of the fact that she drank 3 bowls of water in a row which tells me she had not had anything to drink in almost 4 hours. ALEX is rude and yelled at me. I have never in any business I have ever frequented been spoken to in the manner she spoke to me. I work in customer service and what you do is try and make the customer happy. A simple sorry would have gone a long way. I have taken my dog several times to my Vet for her nails clipped and have NEVER had a problem there. I have also been told by the people at the Vet AND friends they have heard also a lot of bad things about Groomingdales. I am spreading the word of the treatment that I and my dog received from ALEX and also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau which they never replied to. It would also have been a nice gesture for them to have refunded the money I paid them as I know my dog did not receive a bath. She was dropped off at 12:30pm and I picked her up almost 4pm and she was soaking wet. Just tells me that when I phoned them, they just then got her wet. I would not take any pet or recommend to anyone I know to take their pet to this awful place.
This first-time customer does not understand how a grooming shop appointment works. As we explained to her, we take the dogs in the order that they come in. We cannot and do not promise to have a dog that comes in at midday ready in two hours. If her dog was terrified, that was caused by her behavior when she came in, not ours.

Provided by YP.comI definitely recommend Groomingdales. They have a very conscientious owner who loves animals and a good, attentive staff. I'm always greeted with a smile and love the work! I've heard bad things about the past owner, but since they've changed ownership, things have been much better!

Provided by YP.comDO NOT take your dog there. They are really lacking in talent and people skills. I could never recommend this place with its current staff to anyone. Really awful. Really, genuinely inept.

Provided by YP.comHighly recommend everyone giving Groomingdales a try and if you used them years ago try them again because it changed ownership several years ago. Alexandra has redid the entire shop and worked on the kennels since taking ownership. She is a great groomer and you can tell how much she loves her "clients." The dogs are treated as if they were hers. I drive quite a distance for Alex to do my dog and am glad I do so. Give her a try. You and your pet will be happy !!!

Provided by YP.comWe dropped our pets off there and were told we'd be called when they were done. They didnt call, and then they closed on us. They wanted to charge us for boarding because we "neglected" to pick up our dogs. We almost got into a legal battle with them because they wouldn't accept the fact that we were telling the truth. There were two of us who heard the employee CLEARLY say that she would call... and she even wrote it on the card with our pets' info that she would.
On top of that, our dog was never the same after going there. She didn't mind being grooming before going there. But after going to them she was TERRIFIED. She came out crying - literally - had tears in her eyes, whimpering. I don't know what they did to her but I swear I hope someone catches them in the act of mistreating a dog. I've heard a LOT of other stories about the same stuff. I wish I had done my research. Everyone should research when it comes to their pets' wellbeing.
This comment pertainst to an incident that supposedly happened with the previous owners. Groomingdales has changed hands.

Provided by YP.comwe dropped our dog off for boarding at Groomingdales salon on country club rd. the morning we were to pick him up we got a call saying that our dog was missing. we arrived at the salon to discover a small cage that our dog was kept in overnight was opened by our dog? the cage was very small to house our dog that was 90 pounds. they acted dumb founded and said that the front door to thier salon was wide open in the morning when they arrived to open the salon up .Apparently our dog unlocked the front door to the salon and ran away? They made no attempt to look for or post signs or call animal control about our missing dog. they lied and said they called animal controll but i told them they can only file a missing animal request on-line. They did not call the police until we told them to do so. It has been two days since our dog has been missing from Groomingdales and they havent even called us to see if he has been found. It's disgusting how they practice , especially at the cost of an innocent dog.
