Maidenform manufactures and distributes a full line of intimate apparel, including bras, underwear, shapewear, full-figure attire, bridal-wear and accessories. The apparel is manufactured under three labels that include Maidenform, Flexees and Lilyette. Maidenform began with Ida Rosenthal and Enid Bissett, partners in Enid Frocks a custom dress business. The two began their design of undergarments as support structures sewn into dresses. The support became so popular, that women began requesting separate brassieres, and thus Maidenform took off. The company maintains its corporate headquarters in Bayonne, N.J., and has been operating since 1922.
