I chose to work in medicine because, ever since I was a child, I have wanted to help people. \n When I was growing up, my parents worked in a Montgomery Ward store in Kansas with a little coffee shop inside. The residents at the retirement facility across the street would come over every day to drink coffee and socialize. I used to go to work with my parents and sit with the older adults. If the weather was bad, I'd hold their hands while they walked across the street. That time in my life led to my great affection for the older population - and for people, in general. \n When I positively impact my patients' lives - or when I can be there when they need me - it's one of the best feelings in life. I love getting to know my patients and their families and cherish the relationships I have with them. \n My approach to healthcare is holistic. I want to care for my patients as whole, complete individuals who each have a unique set of needs. I work with my patients to develop realistic healthcare plans we're both comfortable with. I have developed a practice with great diversity and feel honored that my patients trust me to be an important part of their well-being. \n Outside my professional life, I enjoy simple things. I love spending time with my family. My children, now grown, have become amazing adults who each have a baby of their own. Being a parent and grandparent brings me more joy than I can express. \n I'm also a huge animal lover. I have three dogs and one cat, and for the past several years, I have cared for a small family of feral cats living in the woods beside my house. I love to run with my dogs in the mornings before work. I also love to cycle, do strength training, play video games, and watch mindless TV and true crime documentaries.
