The mission of the Woburn Police is to reduce the fear of crime and improve the quality of life for the residents of Woburn, Mass., through the effective and efficient delivery of police services and the creative use of problem solving techniques. The department s services division is responsible for facility maintenance, communications, training, records management, crime analysis, evidence and recovered property control and computer operations. The services division is also include the crime prevention unit, the animal control unit and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program. The detective division investigates crimes assigned to it based upon field reports and investigations made by patrol officers, victim statements and witness statements. The traffic bureau has overall responsibility for the enforcement of state traffic laws, as well as city ordinances regarding traffic.
