Provided by YP.commy 60 yr old sister was transferred to cold springs hills from a facility that had very old and sick patients, she was very lonely.
hoping to find younger residence and secure outdoor courtyard.
cold spring accepted her,but put her in a dementia/pychic unit.
she was frightened, she cried and didn't sleep all night. staff uncompassionate. medication was not given on time, waiting for nurse practioner to evaluate. pain medication denied, claiming they do not believe in over medicating. she has severe arthritis which needs more than just Tylenol. facility is dirty and smells.
staff or np does not go out of box in reaching/keeping family post as requested. still questioning if they have provided her with other necessary medication, since she tells me that she does not feel well. which to me is a lack of meds.
admissions did nothing to get her settled in. clothes stayed in plastic bags for days unlabeled. dirty, smelly pillows. my sister laid her head on her jacket to support her head. days before pillows were delivered. people go into these facility for assistance. needing help with the tinniest of everyday activity only to be ignored and staired at. staff has become immune to the needs of the patients and i'm tired of hearing they are under staffed.
will continue to get my sisters needs met while also trying to relocating her.
healthcare in Nassau county has become a very concerning issue.

Provided by YP.comI would not recommend this nursing home to anyone! While it is nice that each patient has their own room the staff is inattentive and sloppy! My father is currently here. He's laid in his own feces for hours!!!! Before I came and asked someone to handle it..to which I was given attitude. Not a great place for medical expertise either, not impressed with the rehab programs. Rude and uncaring nurses and cleaning staff. I see patients calling for the nurses only to be ignored. The nurses do not check on patients during the night as well. If you have a choice do not choose this nursing home.

Provided by YP.comMy dad was there for 6 months and developed a stage 4 bedsore from neglect of turning him properly and a faulty air mattress. The nursing staff tries to attend to patients needs but the overall support is understaffed. The administration is far worse and the doctor mostly ignores you. My dads foot had lost blood circulation and we noticed 2 weeks ago but after mentioning it to him he said it was normal for him. After we demanded to have him taken to the hospital to be evaluated the vascular doctor said that it had been going on for 2 weeks and there was nothing he could do for it and the only option was to have the leg amputated or provide comfort for him. We did not want to put him through that and decided to make him as comfortable as possible. He passed away a few days ago and will be missed dearly. I wish I hadn't placed so much trust that the doctor was handling his foot properly and will have to live with that for the rest of my life.
Please accept our deepest condolences, Chris. Our nursing staff was very fond of your father, and we are all feeling his absence. We would like the opportunity, when you are ready, to speak with you in regards to the care of your father. Please contact Bob Baranello at [email protected] at your convenience. Again, we are very sorry for your loss and we will be remembering your father fondly.

Provided by YP.comMy mom was to many rehabilitation facilities over the passed 10 years and this one by far is the most extrodinary facility that I have seen. She improved dramatically. Not only physically did she improve with the physical therapist (who were wonderful) but mentally. All of the nurses, aides, and social workers were wonderful to her. Her spirits were so great. thank you so much for such a great experience. I would recommend Cold spring Hills to everyone that is inquirying about a nursing or rehab facility.
