I am a periodontist (gum disease specialist) in the field of Laser Periodontal Surgery which includes LANAP, using multiple lasers with different wavelengths to treat gum disease and failing implants, traditional periodontics, regeneration, laser extractions, and dental implants. I have been practicing my specialty since 1985. I am an occasional guest expert in the Oral Health, Men’s Health, and Women’s Health communities of WebMD. I was one of the first practitioners to perform the FDA-cleared LANAP protocol on the east coast of the United States. With nearly three decades experience in periodontal specialty practice, I now perform LANAP and offer other laser procedures every day. I have treated thousands of patients with the laser and in some cases, when necessary, include traditional techniques. Also, since 1988, I have been placing dental implants and using an innovative conservative sinus augmentation technique that I perfected. Unfortunately, most periodontists still treat advanced gum disease with traditional surgery, which in many cases can be better treated with LANAP or other laser techniques. Although I still perform traditional surgery in the minority of cases which require it, in most cases the LANAP protocol is preferable. Many of my patients are direct referrals from other dentists, periodontists, medical professionals, and educated patients seeking the most advanced, innovative, and least invasive techniques available to treat gum disease. I am currently preparing clinical cases for publication.
