In 1948, Rupert and Merle Childress began operation of what is now one of the largest monument dealers in East Texas. From the beginning, Rupert insisted on quality and service. That tradition is carried on today, by his daughters Paula, Barbara, son-in-law Charles, and grandson Curt. Beginning in 1948, our family at Childress Monument Works has served the memorial needs of families in East Texas and Western Louisiana. "Memories Carved in Stone" are what we do best.

This place is horrible,,,recently had my dad's headstone done here and it was awful,,,everything was wrong,we weren't contacted when it was to be set,,,we were promised that,,,call to ask why its wrong very rude and was told paper work was lost,..Please don't use them you will be highly disappointed and out money for something you didn't order....lots of regrets using them....stay away they are not honest people...
