Mike in the Service Department is incompetent buffoon and has the listening skills of a 3 year old.
You have to repeat all your information more than 3 times before he can get it right.
It helps that he's registering you as a new customer and not entering in your information into the customer search for existing customers.
I guess technology isn't his forte, but I digress.
I was quoted $480 for a lower unit rebuild from Mike, but ended up with a $896 quote from Dean.
I asked Dean why there was such a discrepancy in quotes, he blamed it on Mike being new, and that he had no business of quoting anything.
If you want timely and accurate quotes... don't bring your boat there.
I had to call them to get my quote after they had for over 3 days when they promised that they would look at it immediately as promised by Mike the incompetent.
I now have to pay the $135 ransom to get my boat and take it somewhere else more honest and competent.

After being a customer for approx. 15 years, my Mercury I/O wouldn't start. Took it to them for service. First they said they made a mistake winterizing and were going to get Mercury to pay. Then they agreed to pay. Then four days later they said they didn't make a mistake and that they didn't know what was wrong with the motor (they are Mercury Certified...). They told me they weren't going to work on the motor anymore and to come and get the boat and take it to another dealer. Then the kicker, they said I have to pay hundreds of dollars to get my boat back. #Unethical. #Ransom. If you have to drive 50 miles further to a dealer, do it.

Very unethical business practices, been there twice, prices changed at the last minute in boat purchases, fee charged for use of credit card, and the worst, not standing behind warranties.

I have to say.... They really have a lousy attitude that is full of arrogance. They really think they are the only game in town. I agree with the other reviews, Service and a helpful attitude go a long ways however they don't seem to get it or for that matter really seem to care. Their prices are very high, But hey I understand it cost money to stock inventory. Every time I try to call to see if they have the part Im looking for before I drive the 60 miles to get it they say we are too busy to check. REALLY! If you that busy then why answer the phone? Im thinking in if I was a business owner, wouldn't you want to maybe hire another person part time to help out? Dana Hallberg is the cockiest of all. I hope if he ever takes over running the place he runs it into the ground. I again( Like a idiot) tried to call today because not one close to me had what I was looking for. They receptionist said that they could not take the call. I have to say... IM DONE WITH HALLBERG MARINE!

It todays day and age with service being one of the key aspects of swaying someone from doing business with you or not - this place fails misearably and seemingly doesn't care. Dean in the service department should be fired. I can't tell you how many people I tell to stay clear of Hallberg Marine, I say it loud and proud to whomever I speak too in my boating community. Quite truthfully, every one agrees and has one sad story or another to share. You would think someone at that place would care???? Read these reviews, after all they all are saying about the same time. If at all possible, do your business elsewhere. This is by far the worst place I have ever done business.

Worst place ever to do business. They don't take checks or credit cards. If boat stands for Break Out Another Thousand, this people live up to their overpriced reputation. Crappiest service ever, from fixing to storage. You will pick up your pontoon at their convenience not yours. The do not know the difference between estimate and authority to fix. They can't do an understandable breakdown of the bill, you will be billed twice for service. Run fast run far.

They are generally overpriced for their parts... and don't you dare go in there without a serial number for your machine. The parts department will treat you like an idiot as they send you on your way without even attempting to help you. They should put a sign on their door "No serial number = No service" The part I needed wasn't even year or model specific but they turned me away.... told me to get the serial number and come back.I would avoid shopping here (at least for parts) unless you enjoy being treated poorly and like paying more for things you could get somewhere else.... or even shipped to you ..... for cheaper.

The salesman was knowledgable and friendly. I wish there was something else positive to say, but there isn't. Once you pullout of the parking lot, you're on your own. A one year warranty isn't any good if they take all summer to fix your boat. The service department is a joke. The manager Dean is worthless. They try every cheap trick to fix a problem instead of replacing the part. If you're looking for a new or used boat, price shop here, but don't buy.

I brought my boat & motor in for warranty work. They had my boat for over a month due a back order of parts according to their service department and when I was finally able to go and get my boat there was damage on my motor and grease all over the carpet in the boat! They claim it did not happen there and they were very unwilling to even listen to me. Their owner yelled at me on the phone and said that a rock must have flown up and hit the motor. Has anyone ever had their motor get hit by a rock? I was very unhappy with they way they treated me and wouldn't even work with me. As any boat owner, I know my boat and motor. I clip my cover right under my motor and would have seen the damage, but they didn't care. I would not recommend them to anyone that cares to have their boat returned undamaged.

I purchaed a new Premier from Hallberg Marine in August of 2008. I got what I feel is a late season deal. They took my trade in and offerd to store my new boat till spring 2009 at no charge. I can't wait to pick up my new boat.
