Illiano's has gone slowly downhill over the years. Their pizza is still better than average, but the pastas, salads, fish and chicken dishes and other entrees are oily and bland. It's not terribly expensive, but it's not a value as quality and price don't meet up. I'd rather go to subway than get a grinder here.

Of course, it's funny as hell to go and see all the money from sports gambling stacked on the counter when some soccer game or something is happening.

Owned by one of the brothers that make up this family "chain," I have found that this is always a safe bet for good Italian fare. From pizzas to Garlic Knots, a speciality you must try if you are a garlic fan, I have never worried about bringing out of town guests there.
Where it excels, IMHO is in the seafood! Never have I had such tender scungilli, (conch) a huge surprise in this town to be sure! Also the squid doesn't taste like some bitter rubber bands found in a drawer, they are Tender, even the teeny tentacles! Yum! The same is true of the clams and all the rest you'd expect to find in a Restaurant with coastal access. I have heard that each brother specialises in a certain type or form of Italian fare. I don't know if this is true, but I do love the seafood at this Illiano's, especially with the homemade marinara sauce.
Sadly, the ambiance is lacking. Tiny tables, uncomfortable chairs that don't encourage you to linger

Surprise ! You thought it was just a pizza shop? We were visiting friends in Colchester (we are from Atlanta Ga.), and were lucky enought to stumble on this fine eatery! You really couldn't tell there was more than just pizza from the outside, but inside the dining was like you were in Italy. The food was Excellent, the service was great, and we were made to feel right at home. The best dining experience of our entire trip!
