Make sure that everything they "guarantee" you is in writing. The women in the office will tell you different amounts for different things.

They had me sign a lease stating that the pet fee was $15/mth extra... then told me on the phone that it was a misprint and was actually $25/mth extra. That wasn't what I had signed. They said that I had to pay the $25 or not have a pet.

They gave me a typed lease renewal, had me sign it, added more to the bottom of the paper by hand afterward, and then claimed that I owed them money per the lease renewal. Because I hadn't made a copy, and hadn't been given a copy, I had to pay up.

One woman in the office said that there was a $20 discount given to any Walmart employee who chose to move into their apartments. For 3-4yrs, I paid my rent minus the $20. When that woman gets fired, I'm told by someone else that she had been incorrect and I needed to start paying the FULL amount of my rent. I pointed out that my lease renewal stated that there was a discount. She said that the same woman who had spoken to me had altered the paperwork.

The people at the Yorkshire Realty office override one another all the time. They'll also tell you to deal with pest problems yourself when you come to them more than once with the same issue, or will flat out not believe you still have a problem.

They raise your rent for no reason every year. For me it has been around a $40 hike each time. The only good thing they did with that money was give some of the buidings new windows, but I think that should be considered routine maintenance and should be covered by them.

Not a single person that I've met who has or does live in these apartments can say anything good about the way they are treated by the realty office.
