Mt. Vernon Elementary School has more than 500 students in kindergarten through grade five. It employs over 60 staff members and is located in Yorktown, Va. Founded in 1978, the school offers classes in math, science, English, language arts and social studies. It also offers several stationery items, such as erasers, pencils, markers, glue sticks, composition books, scissors, folders and binders. Additionally, the school operates chess, game and Spanish clubs. Its media center offers a collection of dictionaries, encyclopedias and atlases. The school also conducts scholastic book fairs, field trips and drug-free carnivals. Mt. Vernon Elementary School is governed by York County School Division.
