Marsh Plating is a $10 million company and an employer of more than 150 people in the electroplating industry. It started as a six-man operation in 1959. The plant began producing small volumes of zinc, cadmium, copper and phosphate coatings in two manually operating barrel lines, and it soon become one of the largest job shop platers in the Ypsilanti, Mich., area. In 1975, Finishing Service was added to the operation and it began producing zinc and manganese phosphate coatings, as well as providing cleaning and pickling services to Marsh Plating s customer base. The company, which maintains two facilities that cover 165,000 square feet, houses nearly 15 fully automatic machines capable of producing nearly all high-volume coatings. Marsh Plating is a processor of electroless nickel, tin zinc, zinc cobalt and zinc nickel. It is also a McGraw Hill Environmental Champions II Award winner.
