I was promised a bonus after 12 consecutive months of employment. I started Monday June 2 2014 worked every possible day of June 2014 and when it came time to pay me the promised bonus for the 13th month (June 2015) I was excluded and told "That's just the way we do it". I was an exceptional employee, never missing time or being late, given a promotion and raises. But when it came time to pay me the bonus I was promised I had to threaten to quit and file a suit against them to get it. I got my bonus but I left the company.
