Provided by YP.comI travel from northern mi to WV a few times per year. It's a 12 hour drive and I usually stay overnight each way. I just happened to stumble on to this place about 3 years ago. It's an old place but very well maintained, clean and everything works including the wifi. There's a small shopping center next door with a Trader Joes so I can get some deli food and a bottle of wine and not have to get back in the car after an 8 hour drive.
The folks at the desk are always very nice and there's a simple breakfast set up in the am. The price is about half of a holiday inn express. I get so tired of the overpriced franchise places. It's nothing fancy but I think most folks would be fine staying here.

Provided by YP.comIt is two miles from the University of Michigan, which is walking distance for me. It is a very pleasant walk through a mainly residential area. If you don't enjoy walking you can catch the bus. We will definitely stay there again.

Provided by YP.comI was looking for a place to stay that would be in close proximity to the Whole foods Market, Trader Joe's, the Vitamin shoppe and the Ann arbor Downtown Area. I found it all at the Lamp Post inn, located on Stadium right at he Stadium and Washtenaw Ave. divide.

Provided by YP.comFirst this is no longer called the "Lamp Post Inn" but the "University inn." Desk check In was courteous and helpful. Room is a little small yet, clean with many amenities including microwave, fridge. Bathroom was small yet clean, in good repair, and doable. Owner allowed to park car on grounds due to an afternoon game on Saturday. as my checkout was Saturday at 11am. The U of M stadium is about 2.5 miles away. Can walk to the stadium yet there are several "modes" of transportation available. The owner was a great help. She gave us free bottles of water as their soda pop machine was out of soda pop. Highly recommend this motel when traveling in the Ann Arbor area and need a place to stay for a night.

Provided by YP.comThis is not the nicest place ever, but it's a reliable and safe place to stay in Ann Arbor. It's not directly on campus, but is not that far either. If pressed, you could walk.
The staff was very polite and nice, and the rooms were clean. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Provided by YP.comGreat location and our room was clean and comfortable, all right for an older place. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Provided by YP.comComfortable hotel with easy access to the university and area sights. Beds were comfortable and good value for area. Light breakfast included. Ask for renovated room.

Provided by YP.comThe hotel was going through a name change and renovations. The sign was not easy to find as the new name (University Inn) was lit-up and the "Lamp Post" hand written sign was taped below the tree line. The location to campus is excellent. Upon arrival the clerk was friendly and prepared for our late check-in. In the morning breakfast was served on time

Provided by YP.comHaving business relating to the University in Ann Arbor, my 1st visit, I made a random pick based on location and price and came up trumps with the Lucky Lamp. In style it was a typical retro motel you might see in the movies, I expected Richard Gere to walk out of one of the rooms at any moment! Non retro was the renovation to a high class finish and my room was clean, warm, and cozy with crispy bed linen which always makes you feel good after a difficult day. Being from Ireland we think we have the market on hospitality cornered, but you won't find friendlier than the ladies working on the front desk. I hope when they see this they will forgive me forgetting their names but they directed me to nearby excellent restaurants, shopping, bus transport across the road and more than that made someone a long way from home feel at home. Yeah, I recommend it!

Provided by YP.comRoom was incredibly clean. Really cool experience, I felt like I was in a little heartbeat of Ann Arbor. Staff was friendly. Stayed one night as a downtown visit trip, Uber'd to and from the inn very easily.

Provided by YP.comFrom the check-in and the nice gals at the desk to the newly renovated, clean room--we were happy with our choice of the Lamp Post Inn. The beds were super comfy. The one drawback would be the lack of water pressure in the shower, but perhaps it was just our room. We will be back.

Provided by YP.comI have been staying at the Lamp Post Inn 2-3 days a week while attending school. I have to say my overall experience thus far has been great. The price was affordable, the location gives you easy access to both Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean and quiet.
If you are looking for a small, friendly, place to stay, the Lamp Post Inn is the way to go.

Provided by YP.comAs someone who frequently travels to Ann Arbor to visit with friends at the University of Michigan, I consider myself very lucky to have discovered the Lamp Post Inn on one of my recent visits. It is a charming older hotel, and for the great low rates (really, I found the prices to be the best in town), the stay was extremely pleasant. Not only is the location amazing - next door to a Trader Joe’s market for accessible and delicious food options, and only a few minutes drive from the U of M campus - but the staff is especially friendly and accommodating, and the rooms are kept in great condition: they are very clean, and come complete with amenities you wouldn’t necessarily expect for the price, such as wireless internet access, comfortable beds, and a microwave and refrigerator; on top of that, a complimentary continental breakfast is offered each morning.
While it is not the fanciest of places, and it is somewhat dated, I can’t reiterate enough how great of a deal it is for the price! I will definitely be returning to the Lamp Post Inn the next time I find myself in the area.

Provided by YP.comThe Lamp Post is a cross between the Bob Newhart show at a New England bed & breakfast and a Cheers. Only here you may expect a Mid-Western friendlines. I've discovered it's a small hotel where the staff knews my name and actually learned my needs when I have stayed here.
What's best about this Inn?
I have always had a clean room and appreciated the location. At the V of Stadium & Washtenaw, I have been able to get to downtown easily or to US 23 for keeping appointments at Dominoes Farms area & 94 corridor for with minimal drive time.
Their pricing is always seems to be among the most modest for the Ann Arbor area, including the chain economy motels.
I have used the Lamp Post Inn for several nights in a row and for single nights. On several occasions, I've simply taken a room there when trying to keep multiple appointments in the area and needing a quiet work space between appointments. About the only two things I have not used the Lamp Post for is to visit someone at U of M hospital (right on the curve of Washtenaw on the way downtown) or after a 'night on the town'.
Other guests I have spoken with when grabbing a morning cup of coffee and toast seem to be repeat customers (often from all over the world) quite satified in the value and services. Oddly enough, this is a place where everyone seems to say "Hello".
