I have never been more offende...

I have never been more offended by someone like Joye, she has no intentions of adopting out her dogs just collecting all her free money that people donate. I am recently divorced and had lost one of my dogs to the divorce. I fell in love with a beautiful Doberman. I specifically ask for an outgoing active dog that can go jogging, hiking and camping with me. I spoke eloquently on my application, I told her how qualified I was in my knowledge of dogs and their needs. I have owned my own dig grooming business for several yrs. A few years back I had bred one litter of cavalier king Charles spaniels and one of my references had mentioned that not thinking it was a bad thing. I wouldn't have thought that either. My reference has said that any dog would be lucky to have me as their owner, and how I loved those puppies and had found such wonderful homes for each one. After that I had my dog neutered.... She sent me a one line email that stated, "I see you have done some breeding we will not adopt to you" for being the animal lover and the dog fanatic that I am and for working with them for so many years I was stunned! I told her she could check my vet records to show one litter and then my dog being neutered. I was not a backyard breeder looking for a quick buck. I'm still trying to comprehend what has just happened, but I will never recommend her to any one and I hope no one ever donates to her!

Please don't try to adopt a pe...

Please don't try to adopt a pet from here. I just got married and my husband and I went to Pet Smart and saw the staff and dogs from this rescue group. We fell in love with this one dog and put in an application. It was rejected 2 days later without explaining why. I called my vet and references and no one had been contacted from Joyful Rescues. I tried calling on Saturday hoping for an answer on why I was rejected and the person on the phone was nice-until I said I was rejected and that decisions were final and to respect their decision and that there were "hundreds of rescue groups and to look somewhere else". This didn't sit to well with me. My husband is in the reserves and gets sent away for weeks to a month a year. I wanted a dog for companionship. I'm also an animal trainer and have a drgree in Biology. I also have a nice house and big yard. I was stunned that I was turned down without an explanation and was so rudely treated. Save yourself the heart ache and rude treatment and don't try to adopt from this group.

not happy

I drove for over an hour got lost to find joyful resscue I got there just before closing staff was very nice I got to see the puppies I was interested in I fell for 2 puppies that were showd to me I was given a form to fill out and to fax back I did that on a Thursday and on Friday at 4PM the same time I faxd paperwork in I was denyd so I calld on Sat when joyfull rescues take phone calls I was told that they could not go into detail and to please respect thier wishes for not adopting to me and said that there was other oranizations to adopt from and hung up on me. I don't understand why joyfull rescues wouldn't adopt to me when on Sat another rescue organization said I was approved to adopt 1 or more of thier puppies(which I did) when I told the rescue group that just approved me to adopt a puppy from them about joyfull rescues they told me that joyfull rescues never adopt any of thier dogs out. I told the other organization that adoptd to me that I filld both forms the same w/the same info and was told that I could have put anything down and still would be denyd joyfull rescue never call any contacts that is put down and joyfull rescues probably didn't contact anyone on my form. This is very sad because there are so many loving homes that want dogs and so many dogs want loving homes and joyfull rescues has lots of dogs what I don't get is if joyfull rescues don't want to adopt thier dogs out why spend all that money for a website to adopt dogs out. Oh well I got my puppy and am VERY happy and my puppy didn't cost $500.00 to adopt. So joyfull rescues you savd me money and another rescue organization got a donation. Joyfull rescues DON'T deserve even 1star!

Can't believe it.

I drove over an hour to this location where I was looking to meet a specific dog that I had seen on their website. I asked for a dog that was gentle and would be good with kids and the volunteer brought in these little Pomeranians who jumped and scratched my leg and got urine and feces all over my jeans. So I gently put the dog on the ground and started petting her there to show her positive re-enforcement for not jumping up on me. Finally I asked them to take them out and bring the dog who I was there to see and she was a total doll! My family and I were in love! Then to my surprise a day later my application was denied because "With in minutes of arriving, you brushed pomeranian #6 off your leg" What are you kidding me? My husband and I are like the perfect family to adopt to, and because I didn't want dog feces on my leg I can't adopt one of her dogs?

Afterwards I was so upset and started talking to other people and it turns out several people I know were turned down for no reason. How can no reason be given at all for their adoption denial? I think this lady has hoarding issues.

Very disappointed

I have to say I am very disappointed in the name for this rescue. Joyful would not describe it all. As an animal lover and responsible dog owner, I am stunned by the poor attitude of Joye.

After putting an application in on Thursday, I received an email on Friday asking to contact my vet and give them permission to speak to JR. I called my vet that day and not even an hour later I receive one line email "we won't adopt to you". I called my vet and references and was told no from JR even called them.

I called Saturday morning and spoke to an extremely nice volunteer who told me that she couldn’t tell me as to why the application was denied but to call back Monday morning and speak to Joye.

When I called on Monday to to see why my application (very nicely I might add) Joye told me she was too busy to discuss it and that there could be a million reasons as to why. I asked if my references weren’t checked, was there something on my application that was a problem, and I asked if having young children was a problem (even though we have a dog already) and she told me that if your children are mentioned on the application, that is a red flag to them. And I quote per Joye "go find another dog" and hung up on me.

I was shocked on how this was handled by Joyful Rescues. I guess I was thinking that Joye would be like Shelley Bookwalter on Animal Planet because to be involved in rescuing dogs shows such compassion and understanding. Joye though was rude, abrasive and I am sorely dismayed on how this was handled by her rescue. If there was a sufficient review done and they did not want to adopt to my family, it could have been handled much better, including an explanation as to why.
