I have been going to this vet ...

I have been going to this vet for over five years and currently I have mixed feelings about continuing to take my pet there. I have gotten great service at times in the past but in the past two years at times it has been not so great. It seems that it depends on which vet is there when you come in. The Hendersons (father and daughter) are great and have helped me by lowering the costs several times. However, it seems that everytime I have gone there in the last two years there is someone different. There has been overtreatment and overcharging similar to some of the "corporate" vetenarian practices that I try to avoid. Also, the last time I took my dog in for a cough, they said he had Kennel Cough which I do not belive was correct and that he had a foxtail in his ear which I am not sure was true either since he did not exhibit any signs of his ear bothering him. After treatment, they showed me a foxtail (w/o me asking) that they said they had taken out of his ear but I felt like it could have been from some other dog since I did not see them actually take it out. The inital estimate for that visit was over $300 but I took some of the meds off and the anthesia (they wanted to use when they took the foxtail out) and got it down to a little under $200. He got over the cough with the antibiotics and cough syrup they prescribed but I still do not think that he had "kennel cough" and am suspicious whether he had the foxtail in his ear. I am looking for a different vet in the area.
