I would not recomend this company to anyone period. I have had work done by many contractors and many plumbers in the three homes i have owned and i can frankly say that this company is mercilessly expensive. Recently with the cold snap in Houston my preassure vacum breaker froze over and the inside plastic part had to be replaced. The job was very simple and it took the plumber less then 5 minutes to complete and for this they charge me $398.00. No pipe had to be replaced, it was all very minor. I later spoke to customer service and explained that the ammount of work involved was disproportionate with the rate they charged me. But to now avail they did not offer me any money back.

I find it offensive to charge nearly $400.00 for something so simple as replacing a little plastic part which costs $30 plus dollars. Next time i will either do it myself or call the many other less costly plumbers in houston. Goodby Abacus and good Ridence.

I could not have asked for a better experience! I called to get my water heater repaired. They were able to get a plumber out the same day! They sent a plumber on a Sunday, at no extra charge. The plumber was extremely nice, clean, and proffesional! He came in wearing shoe covers, to protect my home... how considerate!

He went and took a look at my water heater, then came back downstairs and did a great job explaining what needed to be repaired, he quoted me an extremely reasonable price, I agreed, he completely the work, and left his work space spotlessly clean! This experience was great! I would recommend this company to anyone looking for quality work done at a fair price!

Our experiences with Abacus make me wonder why other businesses don't learn from their example. I recently discovered a toilet upstairs had started leaking and one in our guest bath didn't work right. I called early in the morning and was delighted when Abacus told me they could have someone out that same day. He arrived on time, wound up replacing the aging commode upstairs and fixed the one downstairs in less time than I expected. Best of all, the fix downstairs was simple and he didn't even charge me for it. The people Abacus sends are always top-notch, professional---and friendly too. I've used them for years, recommended them to friends, and recommend them to you without qualification.

I chose Abacus because of all the endorsements they had, figured they had to be a top notch operation. WRONG! They did come out the same day, but a simple water heater problem turned in to a $2000 quote because "everything was wrong" with the installation, and even if I agreed to that work, there was no guarantee that would fix my problem. After I refused that work, I told the tech, Jimmy, that I just wanted the thermocouple replaced and after 20 minutes he claimed that he couldn't even remove the manifold assembly...come on, that is plumbing 101! This tells me that either they are (a)incompetent or (b) they only wanted an additional 2k. I was absolutely stunned to also learn that any work I did agree to would cost the quoted prices PLUS the $49.95 service call, and let me tell you, the prices they were quoting were very excessive. I can buy two new water heaters for the amount they quoted for one part! Never, ever again!!

Abacus is overpriced. I had gotten phone estimates from Alan's plumbing and Mike's plumbing for $150 - 175 to change the cartridge on the leaking shower head. Abacus ended up charging me $332.00 for changing the same cartridge even with the $40.00 off coupon I had. They still charge me the service fee of 49.95 . Other companies don't charge service fee if you use their service after you agree to their quote. I'm never going back to Abacus again, NEVER.

Well all I have to say is I think this plumbing company is a big joke. They are highly overpriced, Not to mention I know a few of the plumbers that work there and they are overworked, rarely get to take a lunch and are cheated out of their money for the dumbest things. The owner needs to wake up and see what he is doing.

We are in the middle of the worst recession ever. This plumbing company is so arrogant they will not come out to even look at your problem without charging a $49.00 service fee. Shame on you people!

There are too many honest plumbing companies that are not afraid to do business honorably and rely on skills and service. Without starting the business relationship with dummy fees. We are going elsewhere and suggust you do too.

We've used Abacus for 3-4 years now. Every time they come out we are impressed with their professional manner and their honesty. We've never been given the hard sell on repairs or replacements. Their technicians do a great job of explaining the issues, and giving every alternative. I highly recommend them.

Hurricane Ike removed my 75 gallon water heater from my garage in Bayou Vista. I had heard about the tankless water heaters and called Abacus to find out more about them. Bob Connelly came out and explained all about them. He seemed so competent and was so kind. He rearranged his schedule to come out the next day, a Saturday, to install my new heater. He and his helper Mason worked all day and even after dark to finish the job so that I would have hot water that night. They did an excellent job and I would highly recommend Abacus and particularly Bob Connelly and Mason.
