Twelve Oaks Recovery Center is located on five-acres on the coast of Navarre, Florida. This center treats substance abuse and mental health conditions. Through many programming options, those who struggle with the abuse of alcohol, cocaine, opioids, prescription drugs, meth, heroin, marijuana, and more can obtain the help they need to recover. In addition, our programming allows those with conditions such as PTSD, bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety to obtain the help they need to begin to heal. Additionally, specialized programming options are supplied to those who are dealing with posttraumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, and those who wish to include faith into their recovery. The adult men and women who are served at Twelve Oaks are supplied with many different therapeutic interventions to address their treatment needs. These therapies can include group therapy, individual therapy, relapse prevention group therapy, psychoeducational lectures, and experiential therapy. Our team is comprised of mental health counselors, social workers, nurses, a recreational therapist, and an ASAM-certified medical director.

We came to you when our hopes and dreams for our son had been almost extinguished. You opened your arms and welcomed us – not once making us feel that we had failed as parents. We were afraid for our son and you took our fears away. You gave us hope.

You also gave us back our son. The son we felt we had almost lost. You gave him back the roots that he needs to be able to face life with courage and conviction. You gave him new wings – not to survive life – but to soar on Wings like an Eagle.

Since we’ve been home, we’ve had our trials but mostly we have triumphs. He is back in school at Pierce College and is currently working. He had the courage to drop his old friends and make new ones. He is loving and cheerful around the house and has the self-esteem of a person who knows his self-worth. For these changes we will be forever thankful.

Curious, did anybody notice that all of these "reviews" were written from people with names in the same format i.e. first name/last name/number(s)? And all were written in succession, within a few months of each other? It's things like that, that make me skeptical about some of these reviews of rehabs. Whose to say that staff members of the Twelve Oaks aren't sitting in their offices writing them?

I remember my sponsor's answer...

I remember my sponsor’s answer when I told him that the Steps were “suggested.” He replied that they are “suggested” in the same way that, if you were to jump out of an airplane with a parachute, it is “suggested” that you pull the ripcord to save your life. He pointed out that it was “suggested” I practice the Twelve Steps, if I wanted to save my life. So I try to remember daily that I have a whole program of recovery based on all Twelve of the “suggested” Steps.

The PTSD group enabled me to reach a new level of understanding of myself. The medical staff, including all RN's, were phenomenal. The dietary, cleaning and tech staff were excellent. Overall the staff and PTSD group were the absolute best.

So I was just talking to my mo...

So I was just talking to my mom about the little fire burning/letting go ceremony thing and I just got the Eminem recovery CD. We both started crying and just had the best recovery talk, and how she sees a change for the better in me. It just made me realize how great sobriety is!!

Addiction is our weakness. We suffer from mental conflicts from which we look to escape from. We try, through using, to push away from the realities of life. We are all dual personalities. We did things when we were using that we would never do when we were sober. Drinking alcohol built up an un-real world for me and I tried to live in it.

I have been training, through my treatment, to get back in the race. I am willing to accept some mistakes and stumble, but I will pick myself up and keep going. I will not be envious of the person who passes me when I trip. I have learned that they have what I want. I must continue training through steps and meetings to be able to see this through. I must earn what they already own.

Any real success in life will depend on my own soul searching. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Sobriety can be won. Pace yourself. Train hard. Finish the race.

FINISH STRONG
