I've been boarding with Safe Journey since they opened. I like them because my dog gets to sleep on a sofa instead of in a kennel.

They are great people and wonderful with my 2 dogs. I'm glad my dogs go here. I have only praises to sing.

They were very open to taking Beauty and helping her to be comfortable. Whenever I leave town, I have no worry or fear that she will be uncomfortable or unhappy.

I am entirely grateful and happy that Safe Journey is available for my dog. When visiting Safe Journey I was really taken with the staff and their welcoming space, especially the owners Shawn and Dan.

I found this place online after visiting several other larger places. I have a 4 month old puppy and wanted a place that was smaller, and gave my dog a lot of attention. I couldn't believe how nice they were and how beautiful the place was!! My puppy is a mini doxie, so he needed a place that he is protected. I'm so happy I found them!!! Check them out if you’re looking for daycare. You'll fall in love.

I was looking online for a place to bring my dog when I go away for the weekend. I don't travel much, so she isn't used to going to boarding and she is also a somewhat anxious dog. Safe Journey appealed to me because of their crate-free set up. I contacted them on a Saturday and headed over with Lucy for a tour. I was able to tour the entire facility, but because there were other dogs, some rooms had closed doors so there wasn't a wild pack of dogs coming to greet Lucy and me. They explained that they prefer to meet drop-offs and pick-ups outside so the dogs don't get excited when people come and go. For the sake of their neighbors, I totally understand and appreciate their thoughtfulness. The facility was clean and Lucy loved it. I have used them 2 times now and plan to drop Lucy off again this weekend.

I have been bringing my little dachshund Maxie to SafeJourney now for over two years with great results. He was having a lot of difficulty with separation anxiety and I was desperate to find a place that was not an overwhelming, bare, dog warehouse. I had taken him to other dog daycare places in the past, but he did not do well in that environment--even if the people were wonderful, which they usually are!

The one thing I found weird at first was his policy to wait outside for them to let you in. This initially felt like something fishy was going on, but knowing my dog, at least, it makes total sense for them to try to mitigate the number of knocks on the door and strangers walking up unannounced. This would terrify my dog and I appreciate him taking all of the dogs' needs into consideration. The other thing to maybe note is that the guy seems more like a dog person than a people person. I personally have no problem with people having some social awkwardness about them, but I wonder if this played into any reviews.

We had no problems when we came back to pick her up, in fact, our dog seemed more comfortable with herself than before.

I called here and he said he wanted to meet first to talk about our dog's needs, etc. I went thinking it'd be like 10-15 min, but ended up spending over an hour there, talking about our dog's special needs, doing a tour, meeting other dogs. He had actually wanted us to bring our dog so she could meet some of the other regulars. He stressed the importance of easing her in slowly and asked for us to bring her in for a day so she could know we'd come back when we actually left. He seemed very knowledgeable and his philosophies were right on, according to what I've read.

I recommended this place to a friend and she told me it had horrible reviews, came here and was horrified. However, my personal experience there was really positive.

I have two small dogs that go here for daycare several times a week. They get so excited when they know they aren't going to be home bored when I'm at work. They especially love John and wag their tails when they see him, but also like the owner and the other guy who works there. I was surprised to see bad reviews because I've been going here for almost a year and my eight pound poodle that has anxiety issues seems to really like it, they have never come back with any scars and even let them wear their coats when it's cold and rainy. It's affordable, especially if you're doing two dogs and they've been boarded there and came home exhausted and content. Also, I had to be at work early one day and Craig the owner said he would be there at 6:30 when I had to drop them.

My dogs were in Safe Journey every work day for 2 months and never showed any signs of stress (like my second dog does in crazy situations). The owner and the other caretaker were kind and loving towards the dogs.

After a terrible experience with the other daycare Safe Journey came to the rescue. They agreed to try him on a trial for a day, giving him a space to be laid back for most of the day and socializing for occasional outings. I've seen them handle other special needs dogs too. They don't allow the dogs to hit that wild stage that so many other places do where dogs get hurt and continue to have terrible manners.

Safe Journey was a godsend for me. and no, I'm not affiliated with it either except as a client. :-)!

I moved to Portland 2 months ago and was in temporary corporate extended stay housing. The housing allowed my dogs, but I needed to find a place I could leave them during the day while I worked.

We are so delighted to have found SafeJourney. We left Bond with you when he was only three months old and felt absolutely confident that he was safe, and being loved and well cared for while we were gone. In fact, I think he missed your house when he had to leave. Your setup is absolutely perfect and your clients' pets are allowed to be in a delightful "home atmosphere". Looking forward to using your services often.

Very quick and convenient drop off and pick up. Good introduction or our small dog to the pack. John went our fo his way to get us set up on a Sunday for the following Monday morning. Would and eill recommend to friends and coworkers. Thanks for caring for our loved dog.

I've been inside and the dogs are all very happy and playful. In short, I'm very pleased with the treatment of my four-legged friend and would heartily recommend Safe Journeys. Check out the photos, they are very consistent with what I saw.
