Dr. Brad A. Bowyer joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Ltd in 2009. He is a native of Illinois and received his Bachelor of Science Degree at Eastern Illinois University. He received his Medical Degree at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency as well as a gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. Upon completion of his medical training, he was appointed to the gastroenterology consulting staff at Mayo Clinic Rochester and subsequently served as an assistant professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. Mayo Clinic Jacksonville was a pioneer in the development and implementation of the electronic medical record and while there, Dr. Bowyer was chairman of both the information systems committee and electronic medical record task force. Dr. Bowyer left Mayo Clinic Jacksonville after 8 years of service and entered the private practice of gastroenterology where he continued his leadership roles as president of the medical staff and appointed member of the board of trustees at the West Georgia Health System in LaGrange, Georgia. Dr. Bowyer has remained involved with the Mayo Clinic as an active member of the alumni association and participation with the Mayo Clinic Referring Physicians Advisory Panel. Dr. Bowyer is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford Illinois. He is a member of the active medical staff of Swedish American Hospital, St. Anthony Medical Center.
