I wouldn't suggest taking your pets here. However, if it's your only option and your pet is in dire need, I guess you should try it. I think I would first try all of the other vets in the Greene/Charlottesville area. This one just didn't do it for me.

They didn't kill my dog or anything, but the care is certainly nothing to brag about.

Does anyone else think it's funny that the vet wrote a "review" on here and gave himself five stars LOL? I can't review that particular vet, but I saw a female veterinarian at RAH and was a little put off.

I took my puppy here to get her vaccinations, and was planning to get her spayed as well. I was shocked at how expensive it was at this particular facility. I ended up getting her spayed at the SPCA for less than half of what this hospital wanted. They also did a fantastic job at the SPCA. My dog wasn't overly doped up and was moving around that same evening. This place might be okay for some, but not for me. They can be a bit pushy as well. I have been a dog owner and lover for many many years. When I declined a $30 pill they insisted my dog take, they made me feel like such a bad pet owner. I guess this place is okay if you're not worried about money. All of my dogs have lived long and happy lives, regardless of how they tried to make me feel.

I didn't get to see a regular veterinarian, but instead saw a "substitute" vet. My pet still has the same condition and I have no idea what it is. They would not credit my account for pills they practically forced on me that my dog couldn't even take because of his breed and health history. They were also too lazy to cut his nails, even though I was ready to pay the extremely high price to have it done. Maybe the regular veterinarians there are better, but I sure won't be back after that experience.

I'm puzzled by the poor reviews I have just read. I've been using this hospital for my dogs and cats for five years and have never had a bad experience. The vets are all kind and knowledgeable and I've certainly never felt overcharged or uncared for. I've had to wait a couple times, but, also, once when my cat had an emergency, they got me right in and I'm sure other people had to wait because of that, so I keep that in mind when I have to wait. I'm sure the complainers would feel the same way!

Not the quality I expected.

Never been to a worse facility than this one, and I've been to quite a few as an animal enthusiast. Watch your wallet! It will magically get a lot thinner, and you won't even see what you got for all the money spent! Your pet will still have the same condition, and you will be on the verge of bankruptcy.

They may have DVM after their names, but I would suggest doing your own research and being active in the decision-making process. They may not always have your best interest (and your pet's best interest) in mind. I was shocked at the things that they didn't know. I've seen them act in a careless manner on several occasions.

I can't believe this place passes as a veterinarian office. The staff is actually not half bad, but no compassion from the doctors. I'm surprised they don't offer a full service ATM and loan counseling in the waiting room so they suck even more out of you!

Awful, absolutely awful. I wish I had never taken my dog here. They never diagnosed his problem. Like another reviewer said, they are money hungry! The welfare of your pet doesn't matter to them at all! They also had the nerve to tell me that my incredibly friendly dog who is constantly around kids and other animals is a "danger" to me and other people. Money lost, A LOT of time wasted, and some humiliation thrown in. The worst part is that they prescribed Ace to my boxer, which is known to be dangerous for this particular breed. When I tried to return it, they wouldn't let me, even though they admitted that they had "heard" about the dangers of Ace with boxers. Money lost, A LOT of time wasted (we sat in the waiting room for an hour and 15 mins, even though we had an appointment), dangerous meds, and some humiliation thrown in. Please don't take your pet here. He/she deserves so much better. Try Earlysville Animal Hospital, and you won't be disappointed!

I moved back to the area about a year ago and have taken all of my fur-kids to RAH. The doctors were fine, all visits were just routine check-ups. They did find and treat a mild case of lyme disease in my dog before it got to his kidneys...my only complaint would be the waiting room. I had a purposely chosen time that would allow me to work around the nap schedule of a one-year old. Unfortunately, I was in the waiting room for almost an hour and a half. This wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't heard the phone conversation of another customer in which she told the person on the other line that she didn't have an appointment and was hoping they could work her in...and she went back before I did. I got them back, however, when my daughter had a screaming meltdown in the waiting area because she was tired and hungry. Needless to say, I got taken back soon after that and the Doctor had me out of there in about 10 minutes. I'll let you know how visit #3 goes.

Stay away from RAH....since Dr. John left it has gone down hill rapidly. they are money hungry...you can see the dollar signs as you walk in....they always want to run some expensive tests......Dr. Sullivan is the one spoken of on here previously I'm sure as she has no social graces and is very rude.

We've always been very happy with the mission and care offered by the RVC. The Vets there have a wide range of training, knowledge and resources. We have presented them with a few challenges that had gone undiagnosed by other clinics. They were successful both in their evaluation and treatment in each case. With the diversity of each vet's interest and training, it is truly an excellent facility. The support staff is "supportive," friendly and well versed in their areas of expertise. I recommended the clinic to a friend in the Valley, and she drove over the mountain for her dog's treatment, much to her satisfaction. With multiple pets, I only wish they offered a "kennel discount" for those of us with multiple pets.

Great staff, very caring. My cat had surgery and I was notified before and after how she was doing as well as the next day.

My wife and I have been dealing with the Ruckersville Animal Clinic since 1989 and have had excellent care of our animals and very fair costs to take care of them. We recently lost our oldest cat to cancer. Man-Kitty as my wife referred to him (Orion was his real name) paased away at home in my wife's arms. As hard as it was to realize, the staff at RAH was wonderful and they have always followed up with a sympathy card. These are wonderful people to deal with and Dr. Godine and Dr. Janet Robertson are the best. Your precious animal is in the best care possible with these wonderful people.Sincerely,John & Joyce Liljegren

6 cats and 2 big dogs .... yeah, I need partners to help me give them all a wonderful life.My partners at RAH are people I can trust to have incredibly knowledgeable answers to my questions, 100% gentleness in their care and respect & understanding for me. Time for teaching is thankfully given a priority at this practice.Clinical expertise here is excellent. I have a dog who is not just walking but happily running in the back yard because Dr, Robertson totally nailed a difficult diagnosis & started correct treatment immediately. Two of my cats, a brother & sister, are 16. The saying, "growing old isn't for sissies" applies to our animal friends as much as it does to humans! These cats are happy, comfortable & still active because their quality of life is something that is routinely addressed at each visit. The warm atmosphere begins at the front desk & carries through to the exam room, thanks to the humanity of the office staff and the vet techs. Thank you RAH!

We have a large number of pets (dogs and cats) all of which we consider our other children. Recently one our dogs needed complex leg surgery. The compassion shown by the staff, as well as the follow-ups were remarkable. Numerous times, I had to contact the on-call vet, even on x-mas eve, and was treated with patience and given sound advice. Over the last year we lost 2 of our pets and the compassion shown by the doctors and other staff was above what I would of expected. The attention to detail and personal quality of service well keep us loyal customers.

I hurt myself probably by running and playing. Thank goodness, I go to Ruckersville Animal Hospital because after I was X-rayed, I was given laser treatments. These didn't hurt, and now neither do I! I'm back to running and playing and going for long walks.I like going to RAH because everyone is really friendly, and they are always glad to see me. Also, every vet knows what to do!
