Provided by YP.comI had a wonderful experience . They were very caring and compassionate when my pet bird passed away. It died suddenly and I brought it in , to find out the cause of his passing. They sent me a beautiful card afterward and also gave me back the body in a beautifully decorated container. Very compassionate people. Looking at the negative comments written /posted this year....at least a few of them appear to be written by the same person....grow up please!...

Provided by YP.comIts been a couple of years since I have owned a bird and had to use Midwest. However, I had an amazing experience in a very difficult time. I had a 14 year old cockatiel (who had never been to vet in Chicago) back home my aunt was a vet and would do our yearly checks.

Provided by YP.comThey see a lot of animals and a lot of different kinds of owners. I can see where some feel they are pressured into certain procedures as this is the only place that can perform them. Their surgeons have a truly steady hand. I recommend them.

Provided by YP.comThe veterinarians took such good care of my prairie dog. They removed her front teeth after they began to grow up into her sinus cavity which seems to be common in these little guys. They did wonderful work. They were not cheap but they are efficient and care very much about the animals they treat.

Provided by YP.comSadly our dog had internal bleeding when we rushed him here on a Sunday afternoon, and in the end we had to put him to sleep. The staff was kind and caring, presenting our options, bringing us blankets and oxygen for George, without charging for them. They were kind as we had to decide to pursue exploratory surgery or, based on his tests, put him down. We received a handwritten card in the mail from the vet expressing sadness for our loss.

Provided by YP.comWe ended up having to bring our new puppy here late one night after she started having a bad reaction to having eaten her food too fast. They got us in very quickly and had a diagnosis right away. They ended up having to "de-bloat" her. (Kind of funny in retrospect, very terrifying in the moment). Charges were high, but customary with late night emergency care. The front desk staff was very nice and the vet explained everything thoroughly. We had one very gassy baby to bring home with us, but thank goodness she was ok :)

Provided by YP.comQuality health care and emergency service for birds, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, reptiles, dogs, cats and other exotic pets. Dr. Hye really shows how they really do care for animals. I am truly bless to have come across a vet who really shows their love and support. Highly recommendable.

Provided by YP.comI was referred to Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital by my local vet. From Portage, In. I had a ferret that needed surgery on her stomach. So I took her there and I love it there. So now I take all of my ferrets there. I have been going there for 9 years now. They are there for you in the middle of the night too. Dr. Poliakoff is my favorite vet. there. I live in Indiana and it takes me like an hour and a half to get there, but I don't care, it’s worth the drive because I know my ferrets are in good hands. So I would suggest everybody to go there for all of their exotic pets.

Provided by YP.comMy 12 year old cat Buddy had a stroke Saturday afternoon. Our regular vet was already closed and the website referred me to Midwest Animal Hospital. I've had some very bad vet experiences in the past. In an emergency you are at your most vulnerable because your pet is in pain and you are walking into a clinic where you and your pet are unknown. Thankfully, while it’s always traumatic to put a pet down, this experience was not as horrible because of the way it was handled by the staff. Buddy and I were treated very nicely by all the staff. I didn't think the cost was too high for an emergency vet. My total bill including the $100 exam was $230 which is not unreasonable for euthanasia. While I was in the exam room waiting for the sedative to work the tech asked if he could settle the bill, which is actually a good idea. He took my card and brought the receipt all in the privacy of the exam room. Three days after Buddy passed I received a very nice sympathy card from the staff. I hope I do not have any more emergencies but if I do I will not hesitate to come here again.

Provided by YP.comThis place is great. I was sad that they relocated a few years ago but we still make the trip with our house rabbit. This is our third rabbit we have taken to them. This is no ordinary vet clinic-they really know their stuff. They even have educational videos playing when you go in an tons of albums filled with their loyal customers. Yes-they are pricey but you can't put a price tag on your family members. Something that helped me was getting VPI pet insurance for my rabbit. It's only about 120 a year and has really paid off. I just got a turtle and I'm looking forward to taking my turtle there as well.
