Easiest move ever! I booked the movers at the same time I booked my truck, received calls from the company throughout, got just what I needed to get the job done. Will use again next time.

We moved cross country and hired SML to help us load/unload on both ends of the trip. On the midwest side, we were very pleased-movers were efficient, on time and we could not have done it without them. However, on the east coast side, the movers were 2-3 hours late which created a great deal of stress that was not necessary. We spoke to agents from SML during the process and they attempted to help but did not seem to have much control over the situation. When the movers arrived, one of them was hard working but the other was not. We asked them to unload the boxes to the appropriate rooms (they were all labeled) but for the most part, they just put them wherever they wanted. This meant that we had to spend a lot of time moving heavy boxes to the appropriate places ourselves-a job we paid them to do.SML did try to remedy the situation by offering $100 discount, which we appreciated.

SML is basically a broker of moving labor, matching up clients with an available set of hands. In my recent moving experience, the movers were good on both ends (loaded in TN, unloaded in PA), but that information is pretty useless to the prospective client of SML. What is useful to know is that SML is readily available on the other end of the phone for scheduling/booking your movers and for handling/mediating any issues that arise between you and your movers as they perform the job. SML was the perfect company for what I needed: some guys in TN to help me load my rental truck, and another set of guys a day later to help me unload it in PA.

The movers were funny and very nice, but moved slow and went WAY over time. Ended up costing me more than double the quoted price. I will absolutely never use them again...they are not even close to being worth the hourly cost. We used another company in the state we moved from and they stayed within the quoted time to load the truck and also only had 2 of them. There's no excuse this move should have been so much longer.

My guys arrived on time and did all the heavy lifting. We did not hire the "professional" movers, but the regular labor. In hindsight, I would consider paying the extra for the "professional" labor for the loading, so they would be helpful with the appropriate and safe loading of furniture and boxes in the truck. Not so important on the off-load. All in all, pleased with the help!

Simple Moving Labor was SIMPLY AWFUL. What's worse is that I was pleased with the company until they chose not to correct a situation. Here is how it went down... No complaints about the scheduling and office staff I first was in contact with. Fast forward to my moving date, and my movers arrived at 11:45AM (my window was 9-10am). The communication between my movers was awful, and they didn't call me until 11:00 am to tell me they were running late. I had been on the phone since 9:45am with SML trying to figure out where my movers were- even they didn't know! Given that our Penske rental truck (we drove it ourselves) was on a time constraint, and we have movers MIA with no contact, we had to start unloading it ourselves for fear of them not showing at all. By the time they did arrive, they did 45 minutes of work- we had done the rest. The SML representative I spoke with understood why I only wanted to pay for the service I received (1 hour max), given that their company dropped the ball (come to find out they forgot about me). She couldn't authorize that deep of a discount, so she informed the that "by tomorrow" someone would call with the resolution. Well Emerald, a manager, called me two days later, rude as ever, and not budging on her discount. She offered me 1hour off (I was supposed to pay for 3). I informed her that I didn't find that to be appropriate, given that her team arrived 2 hours late, did not communicate with me, and did less than an hours work. She wouldn't budge. She also refused to allow me to speak to someone over her about this matter and even compared SML to McDonalds saying "not every location is the same", which both threw me off and surprised me she would compare her company to McDonalds in the first place. Since I booked SML through Penske (it is their preferred vendor), I called Penske and let them know. They agreed with my concerns and tried to reach Miss Emerald. She did not return their calls, and PENSKE ENDED UP REFUNDING ME THE HOUR MOVING SERVICE from my Penske rental! They wanted to make it right. I am beyond appreciative and floored by the excellent customer service Penske provided to correct the situation, but I would never again hire SML and Emerald.

Movers were very professional, worked hard on a hot, humid day to get everything loaded in the truck. Would use them again.

Although slightly late, the guys made up for it and did a great job in record time. All was unloaded and arranged to my direction and I am most happy with the job. I would use the SML group any time for a move. I used them for the loading and unloading.

The movers arrived on time and completed the loading of my Penske truck in the allotted time agreed upon. Toward the end of getting everything in the truck they became a bit sloppy and started throwing items on the pile toward the front. I asked them to put on a strap to hold everything in place and they did not know how to use the ratchet strap. I realized that I did get honest laborers, but their skill level for packing a truck was a good as mine and why I hired "movers".

At the end of my 3,000+ mile move across the US, only 2 items were damaged. Nothing worth crying over and the fact that they lifted all the heavy stuff made my life easier for sure.

terrible company to do buisness with buyer beware ordered two guys to help due a 8 to 9 am only one showed up at 9:10 my back and knees hurt for 3 weeks having to help move. do not use

SML was and is a blessing to all that truly need dependable, hard working people, and to make any move a success. You have a choice of hiring different skill levels to do the job the cost varies. Bonded and insurable is the ones that I chose and they were very professional and the job was done quickly. Will use again when my new house closes. Eileen Clay

From the administrative side to the labor itself, SML was very professional, efficient, and courteous. I would use them again and would recommend to others.

SML was great to deal with, they were thorough and even called to make sure the movers they subcontracted arrived. The actual company they hired to move us, was subpar. They broke a leg on our dresser, one employee had to be directly told what to do instead of standing around, and we felt like we had to watch them all the time. We'd use SML again but we'd make sure they sent a company with higher reviews.

The worst moving company that you can ever go with is SIMPLE MOVING LABOR they literally sent an ex con to my house to load my truck up. I hired the pro movers from simple moving labor and they were the worst one guy took his shirt off and he had a full naked women body tattoos all over his body it was disgusting. When I made it to my new destination I literally had half of my stuff damaged because the way he packed my truck it was not professional at all. Managers from simple moving in labor called me and apologized for his behavior but only gave me a $44 Credit at first. I complained a little bit more and they took off $200. But still it doesn't matter I have so much more damage stuff the $200 means nothing and they only give you a 60 cents per pound on damaged items. 60 cents per pound want pay taxes on the stuff that was damaged. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY THEY ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS AT ALL. MANAGERS DON'T CARE ABOUT THEY JUST WANT YOUR $$$$$. BEWARE FIND SOMEONE ELSE.....

SML is a horrible illegitimate business. The promised me a certain rate then charged more money that agreed over the phone. I called Customer Service about this issue and also the rate they paid the mover for two hours of labor. I had two movers and they were only paid 7.25 an hour and I was charged over 200 dollars? The movers complained and felt bad and had to tip them because they deserved more that 14.50 for two hours of labor each. I am very unhappy with the Company and may even report to the BBB..... I called to straighten this all up and the lady didn't want to assist at all and yelled at me over the phone. I do not recommend anyone using these services unless you want to get ripped off.

We packed the truck we hired people to help unload they were very clumsy and marked the wall of are house and damaged them in several places we could have done better the one guy was only worried about how little he was getting paid I would never hire again unless they were professionals.

Movers arrived an hour early . I had a 26 ft truck and thetpacked it in 1 hour. they were not careful at all. they dragged my NEW box spring and mattress on the ground and dug it up. they just packed it really fast said they had other things to do. When I unpacked, my things were damaged. Like thousands of dollar in damage. my oak kitchen table had dug marks all over it. My 62 inch flat screen TV had marks on it and the screen was pushed in. Just to name a few things. No I would not recommended them at all. I was told one thing by phone and got another, read the fine print. My things will cost me $$$ to get everything fixed not worth it....

Great support from a distant locale. We moved nearly 800 and had no referrals for laborers to help us unload and set up at our destination. Penske recommended SML and now we do, as well. They were on time, professional and very efficient. We were able to off load a 26 foot truck packed to the brim in less than three hours with two SML professionals and two of us.

The movers showed up on time and were very courteous. They were able to move things through some pretty tight spaces with some smart thinking and get it all done on time. Thanks again!

the movers showed up early and were extremely helpful. They went above and beyond in order to help the move goes smoothly
