I hired helpers to load the truck from a storage unit. Everything was packed and just needed moved, however, the helpers couldn't handle that. One even tried to take a smoke break, I only hired them for 2 hrs. The pros were almost 4 hrs late, and didnt come with tools or Dolly's.

As part of my move from SF to DC I booked 3 movers via the Penske Truck rental site. I was initially going to use my previous movers however Penske sent me a substantial coupon.



What went right: The truck was packed.



What went wrong: They were very late and instead of showing up in a reasonable sized vehicle as I was living in downtown SF. They showed up in two 30+ foot trucks that took them over 30 minutes to park making them even later to the schedule appointment. I called SML twice before the move out date to ensure they understood where I lived and that showing up in large truck was not necessary.



When they left they lied about the amount time they had spent on the job site. Upon arriving in DC I found they had not listened to a single request I had about packing the truck. They damaged my tv by placing book boxes on top of the unit and crushing the box. I had asked them to not stack anything on top of the 4 boxes with large green arrows that displayed what way to orient the boxes. One of the boxes was fully upside down they other three were crushed by much heavier boxes.



When the SML rep. called me she not only talked over me the entire conversation but she couldn't keep her story straight between what they were promising to do and what they would do to rectify my situation. She also had completely inaccurate times of when they were at the job site and when they had left. Off by HOURS.



I am now 4 weeks out and I have not yet heard back from SML about my issues and I doubt I ever will.



Avoid avoid avoid.

SML was very easy to work with. The 2 people assigned to unload the truck were very prompt and professional. I had to change the schedule at the last minute and SML stepped up to the plate and rearranged everything with no issues what so ever. I will definitely use SML for my future moving needs.

SML was easy to work with and there were no extra charges added on when the bill came. There were 2 options to choose from in terms of how many laborers and they were professional and courteous. I didn't have to carry a single item, and they packed the Penske truck correctly - my husband was a mover and oversaw the work without telling them what to do - they knew what they were doing.

SML was easy to use in conjunction with Penske. SML was affordable and offered two different types of moving services to meet your needs, and there weren't any surprises with the final bill. However, the "professional" movers that came to help were not the best equipped, they had to use my tools to dismantle furniture, they didn't help wrap furniture until we asked them to do so, and were too lazy to carry boxes down stairs. I recommend SML, but SML needs to filter their contractors and weed out the bad ones.

I hired SML to help load at our old house and unload st our new location. The loaders were awful - not strong, not motivated and the slowest moving people I've ever met. After a call to the company as I was driving cross-country, I asked for a strong, motivated crew on the other end. They delivered in spades! The unloaders were fantastic and I'd happily hire them again.

The crews did a good job both loading and unloading. However, we booked 2 pro movers for load and 1 arrived on time, 1 arrived an hour late. We booked 2 helpers for the unload and only 1 showed.



They invoiced for 3 hours for the load, but the load time was only 2 hours and I signed a form indicating the time was 2 hours. I am a little ticked at that.

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with movers. We paid for the bonded professionals and received the equivalent of two guys hanging at the Home Depot. When we communes all we got was a rate reduction and a free hour is service. I would never use them again. I had hoped my buisness meant something but clearly it did not. My bell gongs were treated with the care that one treats the trash!

We have used Simple Moving 4 times now and we love it. We rent the truck and pack the boxes then they come and do all the hard physical labor!

Do not use Simple Moving Labor! I hired them to help load and unload a Penske Truck. I had a four bedroom home and I was moving into a three bedroom home. I decided to go with professional labor with the loading, thinking they will do a better job packing. Before they arrived my family had all of the boxes staged in out garage (about 150). All I needed was for them to move the large furniture. I had three beds (1 king, 2 single) and four dressers from upstairs. A kitchen table and six chairs, Futon already broken down, small gun safe, small home safe, one small hutch and six 30” inch wide shelves. They showed up over an hour late, loaded all of the boxes within 3 hours, but took 6 hours to load the big furniture. There were two guys, one was really good and worked hard all day, but the second was out of shape and disappeared several times for a ½ hour at a time. I did complain and Simple Moving labor credited me 10%. Too bad they overcharged me by at least 4 hours

On the unload I hired just general labor. They unpacked the truck in just under 3 hours (why 9 to load). This is when I discovered all of the damage. I lost two shelves, several boxes were smashed (there goes the idea professional labor would do a good job packing), most of the wheels on several items, and discovered several pieces of furniture that was scratched.

Bottom line, if you want your stuff to be loaded quickly and without damage interview and hire local companies yourself. Simple Moving Labor has zero quality control. Simple Moving Labor is a bad choice because you never know who you will get and they really do not care. I sent pictures of damaged product, they did not care. I complained about it taking too long, they did not care. Please do not use this service!!! Go with local help, because you are paying a higher rate and you could very possibly get the same movers!!! Both of the loaders and unloaders gave me their personal business card!

I got the impression that the laborers do not care when working for Simple Moving Labor because there really is no consequences!

WORST SERVICE EVER! On the loading end, the movers spent much of their time on their phones and fighting with each other. One of the guys was smaller than most of my furniture and could barely help. They wasted a significant amount of my time and money. On the unloading end, 1 mover showed up an hour late and the 2nd mover NEVER SHOWED! Because I have large furniture, I was forced to help with the big pieces and as a petite woman this was no easy! In this process my furniture and walls were damaged. After calling customer service several times, they proceeded to charge me and refused to pay for the damages. Additionally, management NEVER contacted me after multiple requests. Overall, I lost hundreds of dollars in furniture value, wall repairs, lost work hours, etc. I strongly urge you to NEVER USE SML! Nothing about this was Simple!

SML contracts directly with Labor Ready...a service you can contract yourself. They do not staff their own movers. They are simply a middle man willing to make a profit off of your move. If you looking for professional movers this is not the company. If you looking for simple labor help...then go straight to Labor Ready because that's all SML will do for you. Unbelievable. It pains me that i even have to give them 1 start to complete this review.

Loaders showed up 15 minutes early and did a great job (they even waited for 6 hours on the truck which was Penske's fault) . I couldn't reschedule due to the move had to be made by the next morning. There wasn't any damage during the loading or the 650 mile trip through the mountains. I would highly recommend them!!

BAD EXPERIENCE!!!

They took my deposit, and then called me SIX WEEKS later because they JUST realized that they will be closed that day. This was the Boston location. Obviously very poorly run. BEWARE!!

This was our first time hiring movers and it was a terrible experience. We hired them to load our Penske truck. There was a problem with dispatch, they guys didn't even show up the day they were supposed to. Next day, they were an hour late. They did a terrible job loading the truck and almost all of our furniture was damaged. When I called the dispatch office (on a Sunday) to ask what we were supposed to do once we started unloading and noticed damage, he got rude and called me a liar.

Have moved 7 times in 37 years of marriage and wish we had called SML way before this move! The two guys who came to our home hussled and moved the entire time they were there. We offered breaks, "No , we are fine." They worked a hard 3 hours. 5 stars +!

We used simple moving labor to load and unload our penske truck. Both sets of movers were on time and efficient. The dispatcher called through out the process to check up on how things were going with the move. I would definitely use this company again in the future.

This was the first time I've hired movers and this was the worst move of my life. I will never use Simple Moving Labor. I booked the service as the customer service agent at the Penske Truck Rental asked me if I wanted to book movers as well. This was a mistake. The crew arrived 4 hours late-- the dispatch called around the initial arrival time and told me that the crew was unavailable at the time that I booked them. The person who helped me make my reservation didn't help me in booking the right type of crew and I had only 2 movers for a job that might have needed 3-4 movers. This move ended up taking almost 10 hours and costing us way more money than we anticipated. We were moving my house until nearly 3 am. This was a disaster. I would not recommend SML to anyone.

I would not use this mover at this point. Everything started out great...scheduling, working through permit issues, arriving on time (loading and unloading). However, where the rubber meets the road, they failed badly. Their labor is suppose to be their own employees who are trained well. These guys, although very polite throughout, loaded the van poorly and did not use the provided shrink wrap and blankets on much of my furniture. I was moving from Chicago to Austin...NOT a short move! The result was damaged to almost every one of my nicer pieces that I had decided to keep. Now you can get insurance above the 10 cent per pound per item at a pretty penny (besides, most home owner policies cover the big events that could happen). The extreme hassle of the claim process makes it not even worth your time in the money you'll get back. My 4 new dining rooms chairs ALL loaded at the very end without even a blanket, would bring me maybe $5! Even though the damage was clearly from negligence...not exceptions that always will happen...there is NO RECOURSE FOR THE CLIENT. Unloading was careless and scuffed up my new walls and, as the day went on, they quit asking where things went and most everything ended up in the closest room to the truck. Set up great, execution by movers extremely disappointing.
