Just got first experience with the professional staff of Da Notty Roots! I was very impressed with the owner, stylists, the decor and most importantly, how my hair turned out. My new hair color and coils are AWESOME! Denise I'll be back and will highly recommend your salon to others who are looking for natural hair care by a professional. I commend you and wish you continued success.

I got my dread locks done there and Denise did a really good job. I would highly recommend it due to the great service, the people are friendly, and its a nice place. If you are looking for dread locks go to Da Notty Roots.

I'm convinced the other reviews were written by a loyal friend or client. Well, I'm neither. I went to this shop for the first time, and was very disappointed. The hair wash was amazing, but after that things went down hill. The technique Denise used on my hair was wrong, and she seemed to have an attitude as if she was on top of the game. I guarantee if some of her customers would travel outside of Hampton Roads, they would recognize realism. The correct way to do the palm twist is to firmly palm in ONE direction. This woman did her own thing, not remembering that I'm the customer. She truly isn't open to new an innovative ways to keep new customers. I will never go again. THE PRICE WAS RIGHT, BUT SHE CAN'T TWIST LOCS.

I absolutely loved my first experience at Da Notty Roots! The service was friendly and professional! The shampoo lady did an outstanding job washing and massaging my scalp. Denise started my locs for me and she was FAST! I am very pleased with Denise's work! I HIGHLY recommend Da Notty Roots to all NaPturals! Oh, and the shop is HIP, MODERN, AND CLEAN!!!! I will definitely return to have my locs maintained.

Da Notty Roots is the best hair shop I've ever been to... there is never a long wait; as soon as you get there between 1-5 minutes you are being seated for service. The employees are very friendly and professional. The styles that they offer for natural hair are great, look great, and are feasible for low budgets. I highly recommend Da Notty Roots to everyone! I love love love Da Notty Roots! After going through many hairstylists, I have finally found my locs a home. The staff is very knowledgeable about natual hair care and the atmosphere is very inviting. What I love the most about this salon is that after a hard day's work, the staff at Da Notty Roots will make sure that your locs are done in a timely manner. I've been going to Da Notty Roots since they opened their doors, and I can honestly say that their professionalism is unmatched. The service I get from them keeps me coming back, and the atmosphere is an added plus! I'm somewhat of a public figure so its important for me to look on point all the time and these ladies keep me hooked up. I have been searching for someone new to help me maintain my locs for a year now. I have found the one! Denise did a great job and was aware and understood my hair concerns and needs. I felt comfortable from the start and was pleased with her knowledge and the end result on a job well done...Kudos

I brought in my mother-in-law because she wanted to start her dreadlocks. From the moment we walked in the door, the atmosphere, ambiance, and service was outstanding! Not only that, but my mother-in-law was VERY pleased with her hair afterwards and have received nothing but great comments about it. Da Notty Roots was a great Natural Hair salon. I was first introduced to the shop at the Afram Fest and the lady was very helpful. My husband went this past week and got his starter locs done. They were great!!!! He was happy that there was no gossipy women in the salon. Thanks for being professional. I think music would set the shop off right instead of TV but other than that, tere are no complaints!

I went to Da Notty Roots to get my hair braided before a trip to Kenya. The freedom of not having to struggle with my hair or worry about how it looked all the time got me to thinking that maybe I need to stay in braids for awhile, so I'm going to keep them at least through the summer. I'm very pleased with the service and the ambiance of Denise's shop. I appreciate that I don't have to wait when I arrive (as if my appointment time was just a suggestion and not a commitment) and I love that I go from taking my braids down to shampoo to condition to rebraiding to out the door in three hours. I could do without all the judge shows on TV, but when they play music it is very tasteful. (I'm old school). It's a nice shop and I'm a satisfied customer.

When I was thinking of something new and different to do with my hair it was suggested that I try locs. Well Denise was referred to me and I gave her a call. I have now been a customer of her's since 2009. The atmosphere is very professional and friendly, you always feel welcome upon entering her shop and she provides a calming, relaxing environment which is always a blessing. I am truly blessed to have found a stylist, that truly knows what Customer Service is even in this economy. To me her shop leads the way in taking care of customers to which others should emulate. upon meeting the owner, I expressed my opinion about locks that didn't grow. I had been to alot of different places of which the atmoshere did not agree with me or had bad customer relations. Since coming here to get my hair done, my locks which would not seem to grow past my shoulder length are now just the length ( and health ) I want. I have been a customer here since 2005, and I would encourage everyone to try Dnotty Roots before all others!

I wanted to start locs, but I didn't want to go through the &amp;quot;ugly phase&amp;quot;, Denise suggested loc extensions, after about 4 hours it looked like I had been locking for about 3 years. They are the bomb. It's been 2 months and they are still fresh to death. Denise is a wonderful person and her shop is out of this world. They make you feel so relaxed when you go there, that you'll be trying to hang out there just for GP. Keep up the good work .

The last two times my teenage son wanted his hair twisted, I did it myself. It took several hours, killed my back, and it did not have the results he was looking for. I took him to Da Notty Roots in between basketball games this past Saturday, and Denise hooked him up in less than 2 hours! He loved it, and you can imagine how people at his next basketball game reacted when he went from fro in the first game to twists in the second game. The service was great, the atmosphere was great, and the price was great! I highly recommend Da Notty Roots!
